The saga of horror novelist Stephen King's disgraceful comments about America's military took an interesting turn Monday when shortly after instructing visitors to his website to send me a message stating "Hi, Noel—Stephen King says to shut up and I agree," his own message boards were shut down.
This followed the creation of a number of threads by members that wanted to comment about King's remarks.
The cover-story for shutting down the boards came from the Moderator in a thread entitled "Stephen King Insults Soldiers":

As a published writer, I know a bit about Stephen King’s professional life.
His contract prohibits the editing of his manuscripts. They have to be published exactly the way the publisher receives them.
He also had “The Stand” republished; the newer version put back everything the original editor had removed, most of which is references to urination, defecation, and passing gas. The man is utterly obsessed with toilet matters.
Also, in “The Stand,” it was the military that created the virus that killed 90 percent of the world’s population, and it was the military that ruthlessly enforced martial law, killing innocent civilians without hesitation.
In “The Mist,” the military again brings about the end of the world. Soldiers are never heroic in King’s work.
In his nonfiction book “Danse Macabre,” King writes that when he was a long-haired college student he was once thrown out of a bar by a construction worker “with muscles on his muscles.”
I think he has a big problem with men he considers his social and intellectual inferiors, but who are physically stronger than he is.
Interesting stuff there. I knew none of that...
Stephen King must think he is more than an author. He must think that he has transcended that role to wealthy icon who is immune to public opinion. I have a hunch he is about to learn an important lesson about what happens to big mouth authors who show no or little respect for the broad range of their readers.
That’s the big question isn’t it. Stephen King hasn’t really written anything scary since Tommyknockers about 20 years ago and he’s gotten progressively more and more politically obnoxious. I reread The Stand the other day and found that he’d gone back and reedited it with more up to date leftist political commentary. It didn’t improve the book.
So his website just “shut down” after his stupid remarks. Yeah; right. It “shut down” probably because 99.9% of the comments were negative to King and his ego can’t stand anyone telling him he’s a dope.
You’re a lucky guy.

I might take Stephen King a little more seriously if he would learn how to end a story. The only two books of his I read, “It” and “The Stand” were deeply engrossing right up until the end, at which point they sucked so bad they made me angry that I had wasted my time reading the book. Two was enough. Oh, and the movie versions tend to suck even worse. The only decent Stephen King movie was “Silver Bullet”.
seems like king is one of those low achieving social outcases who was just lucky he could type fast. (not smart enough to be a nerd but smart enough to be a good tattle tale on others)
This is the SOB who went balistic when http://www.themoviespoiler.com revealed the ending to his story.
Seriously, that website has the end to ALL of king’s movies so you never have to suffer through them.
Actually that seems to be the best revenge against king. Reveall all the ends to his “stories” so he has nothing to sell.

I have never seen any of his at the movies, only on Tv.
The “Children of the Corn” was as waste of time.
“It” was so bad I can’t describe it.
His TV version of “The Shining” was horrible, not like the version with Jack Nickolson.
He hasn’t produced anything worth watching since “Creepshow” when he said those famous words which probably showed his real intelligence, “That’s a met-e-er!”
Granted, it's no Maximum Overdrive, but hey... ;-)
He writes a good story, but I’m not a fan ..
