Critical Threats: Blank When None
U.S. Wary Of Small Boat Terrorism

As boating season approaches, the Bush administration wants to enlist America's 80 million recreational boaters to help reduce the chances that a small boat could deliver a nuclear or radiological bomb somewhere along the 95,000 miles of U.S. coastline and inland waterways.

According to an April 23 intelligence assessment obtained by The Associated Press, "The use of a small boat as a weapon is likely to remain al Qaeda's weapon of choice in the maritime environment, given its ease in arming and deploying, low cost, and record of success."

While the United States has so far been spared this type of strike in its own waters, terrorists have used small boats to attack in other countries. Read More

“Police: Gunman wounds 3 outside SoCal church (isolated incident, domestic-violence dispute)”
AP on Yahoo ^ | 5/17/08 | Robert Jablon - ap
Posted on May 17, 2008 1:49:30 PM PDT by NormsRevenge

SNIPPET: “LOS ANGELES - A man with a semiautomatic rifle opened fire at a church festival Saturday, wounding his ex-wife and two bystanders before festival-goers grabbed him and held him for police, authorities and a church official said.

Gunfire rang out on a grassy field where the festival was being set up at the St. John Baptist de la Salle Roman Catholic parish shortly before 11 a.m., said police Capt. Steven Ruiz.

“We believe this is an isolated incident, a domestic-violence dispute,” he said.

Father Robert Milbauer, the parish’s pastor, said a woman injured in the attack was the gunman’s ex-wife. The two have a child who attends the school and had been mired in an ongoing dispute, Ruiz said.

The gunman’s identity was not immediately released.”

Good fences make good neighbors. So hey, where’s our security fence? -Cindy, United States of America

Many people don't take the threat of terrorism in the USA seriously due to the seriously deficient place border security is given by those elected to defend us and do whatever it takes to protect us. Is there any sign those elected plan ANY serious total stoppage of illegal entry (including overstaying Visas) in this nation as THE #1 PRIORITY in these days of threats from Al Qaeda and other terrorist groups hellbent on causing America and Americans great and devastating harm?

Where there is a will, there is a way, but our elected officials are not willing to do the work the people elected them to do. Perhaps fear of those who have financially supported their political careers sways their decision making ability. History will not be kind to those who permit America to be vulnerable (9/11 seems to have slipped by their memories).

Al Qaeda warns non-Muslim foreigners

An al-Qaeda cell in Yemen has issued a threat against non-Muslim foreign tourists, particularly those from the West, who visit the Arabian Peninsula.

"We warn all the unbelievers who enter the Arabian Peninsula that [targeting] their money and their blood are religiously right for us," said al-Qaeda of the Jihad in the South of the Arabian Peninsula in a statement that was published in its e-magazine entitled "Epic Echo".

"We want to tell you that if you enter the Arabian Peninsula under any name or cover, whether as tourists, diplomats, university professors or journalists, know that we are justified in targeting you," said the statement.

FBI investigates after explosives found at Menifee home (California)
Friday, May 16, 2008

MENIFEE - The FBI was in Menifee all day Friday searching a field and a nearby home where they discovered at least two devices that had to be handled by the Riverside County sheriff's bomb squad, authorities said. FBI spokeswoman Laura Eimiller declined to release details about the investigation that brought agents to the area, but she did say agents were there to serve a federal search warrant.

The FBI called the Riverside County Sheriff's Department out to Holland Road in Menifee about 11 a.m. after they discovered what appeared to be a pipe bomb. Holland Road was shut down between Evans Road and Alta Mira Street while the sheriff's Hazardous Device Team responded and rendered the object safe, said sheriff's Sgt. Joseph Belli. By afternoon, federal agents and deputies swarmed the area. The road remained closed until late afternoon while an FBI evidence response team combed a field near neighborhoods of newer tract homes.

Late in the afternoon, the hazardous device team and the FBI reopened Holland Road and focused their attention on a home in a nearby subdivision off Evans Road filled with two-story homes less than three years old. The residents of 10 homes on Twin Pines Street were evacuated about 4:30 p.m., said sheriff's spokesman Sgt. Dennis Gutierrez.

Afghan hijacker caught working at British airport
Saturday, May 17, 2008

LONDON: An Afghan man involved in a hijacking eight years ago was arrested after being found working as a cleaner for British Airways near Heathrow Airport, officials and a press report said Friday.

Nazamuddin Mohammidy, 34, was among nine Afghans who threatened to blow up a Boeing 727 during a four-day stand-off with police at London Stansted Airport in 2000. This week he appeared in court after police pulled his car over, on suspicion of being a bogus taxi driver, only to discover his identity and that he had a security pass as a cleaner for British Airways, said The Sun newspaper.

North Carolina Web Site Said to Be 'Gateway Drug' To Terror
Friday, May 16, 2008

When former Guantanamo inmate Abdullah Saleh al-Ajmi blew up an Iraqi police station — and himself — in April, a U.S.-based Web site was quick to post a reaction. "This is what you call a success story," Revolution.Muslimpad said of the homicide attack, which killed six. It described al-Ajmi as a hero, a "martyrdom bomber" who sacrificed "his life for the sake of Islam."

The site is believed to be the brainchild of a 22-year-old American Samir Khan of Charlotte, N.C. When the blog, also called "The Ignored Puzzle Pieces of Knowledge," listed its top "scholars of Islam" and people to "take knowledge from," it wasn't hard to notice that the list of 63 names contained mostly known terrorists — including Usama bin Laden and Abu Musab al-Zarqawi. The site provides links to their works, all translated into English.

Revolution.Muslimpad's sleek, modern style includes collections of the latest videos of U.S. military Humvees exploding from roadside bombs in Iraq, as well as pro-jihad messages aimed at radicalizing readers. But terror experts say it is unique because it is written in English for a Western audience and makes accessible radical Islamic content and context found mainly on Arabic-language sites.

"This Web site is one of the premiere English-language sites promoting terrorism," said cyberterrorism expert Rabbi Abraham Cooper, associate dean of the Jewish human rights group the Wiesenthal Center.

Blasts Rock East Bridgewater After Police Discover Explosives - Mass.
May 16, 2008

As many as 30 explosions have rattled windows in a leafy neighborhood here since the State Police bomb squad descended on a yellow Colonial-style home Thursday evening and allegedly found a cache of pipe bombs, according to police and neighbors. The largest blast came just after midnight, when authorities blanketed the area with automated phone calls warning residents to brace themselves.

“It rattled the windows,” said Jim Widenfeller, who lives a fifth of a mile away. “It really rocked the neighborhood.” The owner of the yellow Colonial, Michael Ambrose, 41, is scheduled to be arraigned today on charges that included possession of explosive devices. Chief John Cowan of East Bridgewater police did not specify, in an interview with the Globe Thursday and a press release issued this morning, how many pipe bombs were found.

A law enforcement official briefed on the investigation said this morning that authorities discovered more than 20 active pipe bombs, many of which were found hidden in the garage. Police are expected to remain on the scene for several more hours. It is not clear why Ambrose had the alleged bombs.

“This is one of the largest quantities of hazardous devices that has been found in one location in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in recent memory, said State Fire Marshall Stephen Coan.

Shkedi: Home front to suffer most during war
By JPOST.COM STAFF

ARTICLE SNIPPET: “In the event of war, the home front will be hit by “thousands” of rockets, outgoing Israel Air Force commander Maj. Gen. Elazar Shkedy told Israel Radio on Saturday.

Hizbullah, Hamas and Syria have all amassed large stockpiles of rockets since the Second Lebanon War, and using them against Israeli population centers would be a cornerstone of their strategy in a future conflict, Shkedy said.

During the month-long war in the summer of 2006, Hizbullah attempted more than once to send bomb-laden unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) into Israel, but they were intercepted by the air force every time, he added.

While the air force has improved its ability to intercept UAVs, the threat of Hizbullah launching more still exited, Shkedy said.”

Islamic Revolution Martyrs Foundation Rep In Beijing: Hizbullah Proved Israel’s Vulnerability

Mohammad-Hassan Rahimian, representative of Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei at the Islamic Revolution Martyrs Foundation, said in Beijing yesterday to mark Israel’s 60th anniversary that Hizbullah had proven the vulnerability of Israel’s Zionist regime by its heroic resistance, which had led to the humiliating defeat of the Zionist enemy.

He said, “Today we are witnessing the destabilization of the Quds- [Jerusalem-] occupying regime, thanks to the path laid by the late Imam Khomeini, and the goal to annihilate Israel has been met by 50 percent.... The late Imam Khomeini declared that Israel should be wiped off the map, and now we are almost approaching this point.”

He added that the issue of Palestine did not belong to the Palestinian nation and the Arab world alone, but concerned the entire world of Islam and the Muslims.

“Pakistani doctor jailed on ‘blasphemy’ charges”
OneNewsNow - 5/16/2008 6:00:00 AM
ISTANBUL, May 16 (Compass Direct News) –

ARTICLE SNIPPET: “Now in hiding with relatives at an undisclosed location, Sardar’s wife Veenas said she could not return home for fear of new attacks. Neighbors have told her that members of local Islamist groups have threatened to kill Sardar if he is acquitted.

“If Dr. Robin embraced Islam along with his family, he could come back,” neighbors told Sardar’s wife by telephone on May 7, according to the Lahore-based Center for Legal Aid Assistance and Settlement.

Two other Christian doctors in the area expressed concern that anger over the blasphemy case might incite anger against Christians.

“Nowadays I shut down my clinic as it’s quite possible that angry Muslims set it alight,” Dr. Shamaun Mughal, Sardar’s nephew, told SLMP. “Even the Muslim children became highly fanatic, abusing Christians in the streets and calling Dr. Robin a dog and demanding to hang him to death.””

ARTICLE SNIPPET: “Speaking from a memorial mass in Faisalabad, Father Aftab James Paul, director of the diocesan Commission for Interfaith Dialogue, said Sardar was accused because he was a well off Christian doctor.

“Basically, two types of Christians are accused in blasphemy cases, those who are too poor to defend themselves and those with high living standards,” he told UCAN. “Settling of personal scores and jealousy are the main driving forces behind both types.””

Fifteen suspected terrorists detained in Coalition operations

BAGHDAD – Coalition forces captured three wanted terrorist suspects and detained a dozen additional men during operations targeting al-Qaeda in Iraq leadership and financiers Saturday and Sunday.

Coalition forces targeted al-Qaeda in Iraq senior leaders and their associates during a series of operations in Mosul Sunday, capturing two wanted men and four additional suspects. The men are believed to be close associates of a terrorist leader in the city. Also Sunday in Mosul, Coalition forces conducted an operation to disrupt a planned suicide car bombing attack and detained two suspected terrorists.

Coalition forces conducted two operations Sunday in Tikrit, about 100 miles north of Baghdad, targeting individuals who finance al-Qaeda in Iraq. They captured a wanted man who allegedly leads a terrorist attack cell in addition to funding terrorist operations, and discovered a large sum of U.S. money on the scene. Five additional suspects were detained in the operations.

In Abu Ghraib, about 15 miles west of Baghdad, Coalition forces detained one suspected terrorist during a Saturday operation targeting associates of an AQI leader in the Northern Belt around Baghdad.

“Operations will continue to keep al-Qaeda in Iraq on the run,” said Maj. John Hall, MNF-I spokesman.
