Coalition Forces Kill Two, Detain 21 Terrorism Suspects
American Forces Press Service
WASHINGTON, May 15, 2008 Coalition forces killed two terrorism suspects and detained 21 others during operations across Iraq today.
Fifteen miles west of Baghdad, coalition forces targeted an individual suspected of managing vehicle-bomb attacks. Two were killed and three were caught at the compound. Forces recovered a rifle and a case of hand grenades.
Forces captured a man suspected of smuggling illegal weapons into Iraq and three others in the Mansour district in Baghdad. Forces first nabbed the man, and he then gave up the location of the others.
Coalition and Iraqi forces joined to target terrorist elements in and around Mosul. They caught one suspect southeast of Mosul. In Mosul, forces caught a man suspected of handling car bombings and of bringing foreign terrorists into the country. Two others were detained in the operations.
Coalition forces in Beiji captured three wanted men and seven other suspects. Two of the wanted men are alleged foreign terrorist facilitators associated with suicide bombings, and the other is believed to be part of a car-bombing network in the Tigris River valley.
Yesterday in Iraq, a female suicide bomber attacked an Iraqi army battle position 12 miles south of Baghdad. One Iraqi soldier was killed and seven were wounded.
Also yesterday, soldiers killed five enemy fighters in operations in western Baghdad. U.S. soldiers were attacked by the fighters using small-arms fire and rocket-propelled grenades in Kadamiyah. The soldiers killed four attackers. Later, soldiers received sniper fire from a building in Kadamiyah. An aerial weapons team fired a Hellfire missile, killing one attacker.
In other operations across Iraq:
— A bomb-laden motorcycle exploded in Kirkuk on May 13. The motorcycle was parked outside an elementary school on a route that leads to an open market. Reports are that a car was destroyed and 12 civilians were injured in the blast.
— Iraqi police caught a man May 13 wanted for several murders in the Shurta community.
— U.S. soldiers found a rocket-propelled grenade with launcher and ammunition in the Jihad community May 13.
— In the Karb De Gla community May 13, members of the Sons of Iraq, a citizen security group, turned in more than 100 pounds of plastic explosives to U.S. soldiers.
— U.S. soldiers recovered a weapons cache May 12 in the Rashid district of southern Baghdad following a tip from a local citizen. Soldiers recovered about 200 feet of detonation cord, 50 blasting caps, 200 rounds of ammunition and several timers.
— On May 12, U.S and Iraqi army soldiers recovered a weapons cache in the Doura community. A local tip led to the cache holding a 155 mm artillery round, rocket-propelled grenade rounds, RPG launchers, machine guns, ammunition, body armor, homemade hand grenades, homemade explosives, and hundreds of items used to make homemade explosives.
— Iraqi army soldiers recovered a weapons cache near Say Fahal village, southwest of Baghdad, May 12. The cache included explosive devices, more than 180 60 mm mortar rounds, 130 mm high-explosive projectiles, a 122 mm rocket, and a 155 mm rocket along with fuses and ammunition.

Iraqi Special Operations Forces capture terrorist in Mosul
Multi-National Corps Iraq PAO
BALAD, Iraq Iraqi Special Operations Forces captured a terrorist in western Mosul, Iraq, May 15.
The ISOF conducted the operation to capture a member of the Islamic State of Iraq, a front organization for al-Qaeda in Iraq, responsible for improvised explosive device emplacement and providing information to the ISI about the Iraqi Army and Iraqi Police. Six other suspects were detained in the operation.
This operation is expected to disrupt the ISI cells terrorist activities and diminish future attacks on IA and Coalition forces in western Mosul.
Iraqi Special Operations Forces, partnered with Coalition forces, will continue to pursue terrorists who threaten innocent Iraqi citizens, said Col. Bill Buckner, MNC-I spokesman.

Iraqi Army captures Special Groups cell leader in Husayniyah
Multi-National Corps Iraq PAO
BALAD, Iraq The Iraqi Army captured a mid-level Special Groups cell leader in Husayniyah, responsible for coordinating improvised explosive device, rocket and smallarms fire attacks against Iraqi Security and Coalition forces, approximately 30 km north of Baghdad, May 15.
Iraqi Army soldiers conducted the operation to capture the Special Groups cell leader whose cell conducted attacks against the ISF and CF as recent as April 22.
These criminals emplaced explosively-formed penetrators and conducted indirect fire attacks against static Coalition force positions. Three additional suspects were detained.
The capture of this cell leader will likely affect the ability of Special Groups criminals in Husayniyah to conduct attacks against Iraqi Security and Coalition forces, said Col. Bill Buckner, MNC-I spokesman. This will prevent Special Groups leadership from exploiting the city as a safe haven.

NEW YORK (AP) Terror leader Osama bin Laden will release a new Internet message dealing with Israel and the Palestinians, a terrorism monitoring group said Thursday.
The announcement of the impending comments by the head of al-Qaida was posted on Web sites often used by terror groups, the SITE Intelligence Group said.
Bin Laden’s statement will be titled, “The Causes of Conflict on the 60th Anniversary of the Establishment of the State of Israeli Occupation” and will be addressed to the “Western peoples,” SITE said.
Al-Qaida messages usually follow within 72 hours of such announcements.
The terror network has dramatically increased the pace of its messages since last year.

“US-Saudi oil axis faces day of truth”
The Telegraph ^ | 5/15/2008 | Ambrose Evans-Pritchard
Posted on May 15, 2008 7:38:14 PM PDT by bruinbirdman
SNIPPET: “When President George Bush went to see Saudi Arabia’s King Abdullah in January to plead for higher oil output, he was politely rebuffed.
The rematch is likely to be a great deal more strained.
If the Saudis deny help once again, they risk incalculable damage to their strategic alliance with Washington. The price of crude has rocketed by over $30 a barrel since that last fruitless meeting, briefly touching the once unthinkable level of $127.
Goldman Sachs fears a “super-spike” to $200 a barrel this year.
Asked what he would tell King Abdullah this time, Mr Bush said caustically: “the price is even higher.””
Snippets: Abdul Hadi claimed the attacks were un-Islamic and un-Afghan during a speech yesterday in the Archi district of Kunduz province. He spoke at a gathering of about 700 people, including the Kunduz governor, and was on his way home when he was killed, Khair Mohammad Subat said.
In January, Education Minister Mohammad Hanif Atmar said the number of students and teachers killed in Taliban attacks spiked in the past year in a campaign to close schools and force teenage boys to join the Islamic militia.
Feds get first ever narco-terrorism conviction
A jury in U.S. District Court in Washington found Khan guilty on Thursday of securing heroin and opium that he knew were bound for the United States and, in doing so, assisting terrorism activity.
Terrorism police raid Sydney homes
Police said the co-ordinated raids took place this morning on houses in Glebe and Riverwood, in the city's inner west and southwest respectively. No one was arrested but documents and computer hard-drives were seized for examination, police said.
Germany - threat of Islamic terrorism consistently high
The report said Islamic militants are increasingly setting their sights on Germany and view the country as an "operational area" and that Islamists regard Germany as a "crusader" and as an ally of the United States and Israel.
The 32-year-old Liyakhat Ali Abdul Ghani Sayeed was picked up from his house in Belgaum and a laptop, several compact discs, mobile phone sets and other materials were seized, Belgaum police superintendent Hemant Nimbalkar told IANS by phone. 'We have picked him up on suspicion and are questioning him about the objectionable material we found from his residence,' he said, declining to give details on what the CDs and other materials contained. 'We are still questioning him and, hence, I cannot say anything more,' said Nimbalkar. 'We have picked up only Sayeed and no one else,' he added when asked how many people have been taken into custody. Sayeed was working in London and returned to his native Belgaum recently, he said. Police sources said writings on Kashmir terrorism, attacks on World Trade Centre in the US were among the materials found at Sayeed's house. Additional Director General of Police Shankar Bidari told reporters that some of the materials seized from Sayeed were intended to cause enmity between communities. 'Interrogation is on to find out more about his activities,' he said. Bidari said there was no connection between the arrest of Sayeed and Tuesday's serial blasts in Jaipur or the blast at a court in Hubli, a commercial centre in north Karnataka district of Dharwad, about 80 km from Belgaum.

Awad Al Qiq, a science instructor and principal of the UN Relief and Works Agency school in Rafah, was said to have been one of the top missile, mortars and rocket developers for Jihad, the most active insurgency group in the Gaza Strip. The 33-year-old Al Qiq was killed in an Israel Air Force helicopter strike near the Egyptian border on April 30, Middle East Newsline reported.
Cops release more sketches of suspects
Based on questioning the police believe that two terrorists each went to five shops and bought 10 cycles, that makes it not one but many terrorists possibly up to 10, as seen by shop staff.
The market was near one of the blast locations and the cycles bought around mid-day just hours before the attack.
Islamist group threatens India tourist attacks
From the tourism point of view, this attack is to warn the entire crusaders of the world, US and Britain in particular, we Muslims are one across the globe and you wont find it easy in India as well, the e-mail said.
Dont send your people to India and if you do so then you people will be welcomed by our suicide attackers
This letter is an open warning to India that stop supporting US in the international arena.
All interesting MamaDearest.
