AP Poll: Clinton leads McCain, doing better than Obama (Rush Will get Hillary Elected President)

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Hillary Rodham Clinton now leads John McCain by 9 points in a head-to-head presidential matchup, according to an Associated Press-Ipsos poll that bolsters her argument that she is more electable than Democratic rival Barack Obama.

The survey released Monday gives the New York senator and former first lady a fresh talking point as she works to raise much-needed campaign cash and persuade pivotal undecided superdelegates to side with her in the drawn-out Democratic primary fight.

Helped by independents, young people and seniors, Clinton gained ground this month in a hypothetical match with Sen. McCain, the GOP nominee-in-waiting. She now leads McCain, 50 percent to 41 percent, while Obama remains virtually tied with McCain, 46 percent to 44 percent.

Both Democrats were roughly even with McCain in the previous poll about three weeks ago.

Since then, Clinton won the Pennsylvania primary, raising questions anew about whether Obama can attract broad swaths of voters needed to triumph in such big states come the fall when the Democratic nominee will go up against McCain.

Added Steve Lombardo, a GOP pollster: "This just reinforces the sentiment that a lot of Republican strategists are having right now -- that Clinton might actually be the more formidable fall candidate for a lot of reasons, not the least of which is that Obama can't seem to get his footing back."

Black people would be happy to vote for Hillary to keep him out of office.

Perhaps, but I know a lot of black folks that would disagree with you.

I question this poll. She has come out of no where to overtake McCain. AP is trying to help Hillary get the nomination.

Ok, I will try this one more time. Rush hasn’t done anything, his operation Chaos has had nil effect on the primaries it was meant as a joke intended to irritate Dems, he hasn’t over estimated anything. The only one responsible for the tanking of Obama is Obama and his associates(specifically Rev. Wright). McCain is responsible if he loses this election, he is pandering to everyone but the conservatives and many will not vote for the man. It has nothing to do with Rush. Get over it, and blame the real people who are responsible if Hillary were to get elected.

“Rush is not electing anyone. Obama is tanking due to his own efforts. You Rush bashers are pathetic in your efforts to undermine him, most of you, of course, are liberal plants here on FR, some of you are just idiots. Operation Chaos is a joke, meant to pi** off the dems and it is working apparently because people like you post at least one Rush bashing article per day on FR.”

Were you born retarded or was it the result of a tragic accident?

Folks, there is no way the lefties are going to let Hilary win this - St. Obama has a mortal lock on the Dimocrats this cycle. Look at the left/media/dim response to the kindly, tolerant spiritual mentor, Rev. Wright. There is a lot of speculation, however, that Hilary knows she has lost 2008 and is setting up for 2012, which only works if the aging McCain wins. Is there anyone Dimwitted enough to think Rush wants Hilary to win? What he wants is what I think we all want, which is to expose the Dims and make them fight it out over their own victim-oppression narrative (”do white men hate blacks or women more,” per Dim pundit Nora Ephron) And you can’t argue with him that it has been working so far.

If in the worst case that the whole thing backfires and somehow Hilary sees off both Obama and McCain, the political result will be that Hilary will have burnt all her bridges with the left (with the peculiarly viscous infighting the left goes in for, cf. Danton & Stalin as a plus across the board), and will have had to reach towards the middle.

I find the Clintons venal, corrupt and vile - but I agree with Rush’s strategy at both levels: it is the best way to defeat Obama, our nation’s Hugo Chavez, and the downside is Hilary, who at that point would owe nothing to the Soros hard left that owns Obama.

Rush has an inflated idea of his influence. Other than himself and a few ditto heads I can’t imagine anyone really believing Rush is responsible for Hillary’s recovery in the polls.

It does not matter one way or another because Obama is going to win the nomination and McCain will beat him in the General. Just have fun with it like Rush is doing. No sense getting an ulcer over nothing.

BTW, I think he gave a heads up to the Chaos folks in NC to stay tuned and not utilize the early voting. If Obama tanks in the next week I expect the call to go out in NC to vote Obama instead of Clinton. Just a thought...

Yes. He mentioned today that OC is about chaos, not getting a certain nominee. And that he had contingency plans no matter who was nominated.

I listen to Rush daily, but i worry that he might have underestimated the appeals of the clintons.....

I've listened to him regularly since 1991. He has consistently underestimated them.

I still remember him chortling when Bill got the nomination in 1992 that the Democrat party was ready "drink kool aid" because they saw Bill as unelectable. Since then, he's always told us how "this time for sure" (to quote the late, great, Bullwinkle J Moose) would be the Clintons' downfall. And every time he was wrong.

He's either completely naive or intentionally throwing the election to them to sell t-shirts and boost his ratings.

"Rush Will get Hillary Elected President"

You're talking just like a loser. With your wobbly knees, you'd better crawl into bed and pull the covers over your head until after the election in November (when we get our side into the WH in spite of our flawed candidate).

The Super Delegates have always been the ones who will choose the 'RAT nominee - in spite of the voters (which they consider to be incompetent).

The vast majority of Obama's supporters will not vote for Clinton if they choose her, and vise versa. This means that neither one of them can win the general.

If it results in the nomination of the more formidable candidate it most definitely does.

This campaign is McCain’s to loose. And, he’s doing a damned fine job of loosing it.

Yup! Who does this guy criticize other than Republicans? Has he met a liberal democrat that he doesn't like or agree with? Why he even agrees with the global warming scaremongers!
He is not only not a conservative of any stripe, he is NOT a Republican. Not by any stretch. We are going to elect a democrat come November.

How do you like your wings? Mild, medium or hot? They are all left wings. The Blue(cheese) is free.

It was just mentioned on today’s Howie Carr Show that at this point, prior to the ‘04 elections, John Kerry was way ahead in the polls. If it’s really this close right now in the Presidential polls with either Democrat against McCain, then it really doesn’t bode well for the Democrats chances for Presidential victory come November 4.

Is there anyone more stupid than a guy that is willing to give up thousands of Conservative votes to win just a few from moderate Liberals and Independents?

Rush is not the problem.

Reactionaries who cut off their noses to spite their faces and reject the most conservative of the candidates in favor of nothing or no one of substance are the problem.
