If, after everything McCain has done, you still believe he would even consider nominating a true-blue conservative for the SC - then there is nothing that can be said here to convince you otherwise.

Sad when you think about it. Our choices are a black militant, a commie or a crazy old white guy. :)

folks who sit it out or vote third party can’t bitch the next four years. ************************************************* Don't you dare tell me what I can or can't do with my constitutionally protected political speech,, you sound like McCain. I will not support someone who is stupid enough to stab me in the back BEFORE he gets my vote ,, even GWB was smart enough to wait until after the election.

I live in a large city, also the largest concentration of Navy and Marines.

You are in a remote area of Ohio and don’t hear and see what we see here.

Your wishful thinking is just that.

>I feel McCain is unbalanced. I cannot be expected to vote for an unbalanced person. McCain is not a conservative conservative. I cannot be expected to vote for a non-conservative. And so I sha’nt.<

Nor shall I. Read David McCullough’s “John Adams”. We had a man like that running by the name of Duncan Hunter. But they, including many on this forum, wouldn’t permit a conservative to get anywhere. This was our last chance to elect a true American patriot, but people wouldn’t listen.
Now we all must suffer their results.

If Roberts had not caught Stevens stumbling down the steps he would already be gone. Ginsburg has been falling asleep at the bench. I doubt they can hang on much longer.

In my book, he looks like John Birch compared to Ol' Senility.

Ditto!!

McCain already said no litmus test for his SCOTUS picks including CFR. He said the only criterion was a strict constructionist who will interpret and not legislate from the bench.

"and so instead of voting for one you might have questions and concerns about (not sure, maybe)"

Might? Please reread my statement.

"you will vote for, or help elect, ones with whom it is absolutely guaranteed you will hate - particularly on life time serving judges"

I have been using that kind of logic for years, and, as conservatives, we accept more and more every year. Now we have John McCain, a liberal with an R behind his name. Sorry, can't do it. I'm a strict-constructionist, McCain should be hung for treason. I'm the frog that jumped out of the pot in the nick of time...enjoy the heat.

He did support Bork

And Ginsburg ...

And Bruce Babbitt. While most Republicans were outspoken against Babbitt, McCain was rallying for him, calling him "one of the most thoughtful, intellectual individuals I've known on the political scene" and "an ideal member of the Supreme Court." Clinton chose Breyer instead.

Yup. Remote. Only the 14th largest city in the United States. (That would be Columbus, for those of you in Rio Linda.)

I'm really not in the mood for a pissing contest, but I will say this. My Dad retired as on O-5 (that's a Lieutenant Colonel) in the USAF. He was a Buff Driver (That's a B-52 to you.) Cuban Missile Crisis, Vietnam, you name it. He met my mother at a SAC base (Loring, Fort Fairfield, Maine.)

Don't lecture me, boy.

So I take it then you will be issuing apologies when McCain does nominate a strict constructionist? :^)

I have to take my chances with McCain. Obama and Hillary are out of the question. (This may be the worst race in my lifetime, only the Ford/Carter race is in play because everyone new Carter would win).

I agree 1000% but I doubt 6 of them would retire. More likely 2. In any event I would prefer McCain picking them over Obama.

Clinton was going to choose a liberal one way or another. Babbitt, even as a Democrat, had been one of the better Governors of Arizona.

I have read that book and others on Adams. John Adams was magnificent during the Revolution. A case could be made that we wouldn't have won without him.

As our second President, however, he stunk. He was our first liberal President. (see the "Alien" and "Sedition" acts, both flagrantly unconstitutional.) After losing to Jefferson, and before he left office, he packed the federal courts with like-minded liberals, Marbury of Marbury v. Madison, being the most notable...where the Constitution was emasculated...we haven't and we won't recover from that one appointment.

McCain is a liberal on immigration and climate change. He is a conservative on the WOT and spending. Seems to be a moderate on taxes - not sure as he bounces around. You can sum it up to equal RINO if you want. Doesn’t matter. RINO or otherwise he is better than Obama who is a commie on all issues of importance to me.
