McCain: A Question of Temperament (Is He Mentally Unstable?)
Washington Post ^ | 20 April 2008 | By Michael Leahy

Posted on 04/20/2008 6:49:33 AM PDT by shrinkermd

This is a lengthy, comprehensive review of McCain's angry behavior. Note, that it is a serious effort and tries to be fair; however, the author makes some common errors in respect to emotions and human behavior.

The only quote I will post is the below. The article is at least 5 pages long on my computer, so 300 words would not be an adequate review.

...Since the beginning of McCain's public life, the many witnesses to his temper have had strikingly different reactions to it. Some depict McCain, now the presumptive Republican nominee for president, as an erratic hothead incapable of staying cool in the face of what he views as either disloyalty to him or irrational opposition to his ideas. Others praise a firebrand who is resolute against the forces of greed and gutlessness.

THE SHAPE OF THINGS TO COME IN THE ANTI-MCCAIN LIBERAL MEDIA

He's always hot-headed, not cold
He's never too young, just too old
He's never for peace, just too bold
Any virtues will remain 'neath the fold

It seems he is very protective about why he won't allow a search for POW's and MIA's. Whenever he is questioned about it, the veins start popping. What is his reasoning?

On McCain thwarting the search for POW's

So what is the point of your attack on McCain?
Are your trying to Get Obama Elected ?
Are you a radical Marxist America hater too ?
The Wash Compost are slowly dying because they are a Soros-Democrat Party propaganda outlet and there other media options for now .
They need a radical Soros Marxist like Obama to come in and shut down talk radio and the new media so they can survive to peddle socialism.
So, all your doing is helping out the Soros front guy !
Peddling this nonsense only helps out the radical left which is trying to take over ! I'm sure they appreciate your help !

I guess many people in America would be satisfied with a submissive, pink pantied president who blows up birthday balloons in the oval office instead of an assertive, in your face leader who makes submissives curl up in a ball of terror at being dominated by a REAL MAN!

wibberal dwibble from the dumb as a fencePost media.

Your getting a rumor off a website and you believe it.
Everyone has an agenda . Do you know if this analyst is a Democrat party operative. My brother in law works there and he says its crawling with Clinton - Dem party operatives that try to sabotage things and leak false stories to the press.

WaPo could have chosen one of many more dramatic instances of McCain’s temper to start their article. His screaming “FU” to a Senate colleague leaps to mind. Instead, they began with a relatively innocuous exchange during the 1992 POW/MIA hearings. They are intimating that those hearings and the issues surrounding them will be discussed in much greater depth closer to the election.

As for McCain’s temper, I imagine it has a lot of appeal to certain types of blue collar men, and let’s face it, Obama’s not going to win West Virginia, no way, no how. However women, a majority of the electorate, will likely not be so amused by a grown man who can’t control himself even in public, especially if the C-word statement he made to his wife ever becomes common knowledge.

“So what is the point of your attack on McCain?”

Attack? You sound like Hillary? Truth hurts, doesn’t it? At least you know what you’re getting, or would you rather just vote blindly?

In respect to POW and MIAs, remember in modern war with modern ordinance there are many whose remains can never be found.

Senator McCain is a believer in peace. Ross Perot had delusions of grandeur and was claiming there were some still alive. Based this on alleged first person sightings; however, no one ever proved this. If they ever existed, they were either sent to Russia or killed. In either of these latter two instances searching some more would not find anything.

The Viet Nam war was over when Senator McCain took his position. Time for peace. I couldn't agree more. My DEROS was 17 May 1969. We now do some trade with Viet Nam and many have visited there. We are no longer at war and it takes a real dork to try to keep this alive.

By the way, Grassley has secured huge sums for farmers who already are doing pretty well. McCain is death on pork; I imagine they will clash on this.

Regarding your last sentence - do you have any links? That is the first time I heard that, although I wouldn’t be surprised.

His public reasoning was that it would be hurtful for the families. A strawman of course, since it was those very families who were desperately begging to know the fate of their loved ones.

Yes, I agree. What some want is a Mr. Rogers to give pep talks to the children. Maybe also shed a tear from time to time over all the self-defined victims who want more but choose to do less.
