It is my opinion that we need to pray for our leaders this election.
Many Conservative are disappointed with the selection of Senator John S. McCain. But in one sense, he is the true conservative in values -- he has fought for campaign finance reform -- getting big money out of politics.
This should allow the little guy (or gal) more voice in what this country is doing.
In some religions, it is part of the church service to pray for the leaders of a country (Ukrainian Catholic, for example).
We must pray for our leaders and pray that the Congress that is elected in 2008 will serve our Judeo-Christian country and help restore traditional values.
We need to win back the HOUSE and SENATE.
Additionally, Senator John S. McCain may choose a Vice Presidental candidate that many conservatives will warm up to.
I have heard it once said: YOU GET WHAT YOU PRAY FOR.
Obviously, if we are not praying (and working) for the conservatives values this country needs for this election, then God will not help us.
We must be like the Old Widow who continually went to the Judge. Eventually, the Judge gave in the Old Widom because she continually asked the Judge to see her point of view.
..you'll see it was a misunderstanding between Doughty One and myself.
I don't ever remember starting ANY Bush thread and I'm certainly not going to start now.
Hiya Guen,
Yes I saw the misunderstanding, and knew it to be a mix-up right away. I was referring specifically to the idea of trashing any McCain prayer thread that might occur, and my agreement with that.
Don't you ever think I'd have a cross word for you Guenevere... You and I are always in agreement, and you are one of my favorite people on this board. :)
I came across this old thread of interest. Thought you might want to add it to your list.
You deleted your list from your homepage?

Former P.O.W.: “Why I Cannot Support Senator John McCain for President”
“2008 Election Prayer Thread for McCain/Conservatives: Day 1”
So do we pray for McCain or for Conservatives??? I am confused as to the goal here.
“he has fought for campaign finance reform — getting big money out of politics.”
And the Constitution be damned!
One of your best ever posts.
“But, he will be much better than either of the other two.”
Change the word “much” to “slightly” and I agree.
I hope you saved that thread.
I clicked your link and got:

I never saw this before and I’m very disgusted.
Did you notice that Ret. Major Smith was in a hole? I bet that is where that story came from.
The original is here:

Thanks for the ping Guenevere. It was a misunderstanding and a mistake on my part. Glad we agree on these matters. Both of you take care.
Maybe through prayer John McCain can be molded into something that is a tool for conservatives. At least with prayer we are trying to have God help us.
