I got a note from Mr. Moran, the PR guy at Absolut. It reads" "The ad has been down -- have you not seen the Pears ad in its place?"
Jeffrey A. Moran Corporate and Brand Communications The Absolut Spirits Co., Inc. 401 Park Avenue South New York, NY 10016
CONTACT email: jeffrey.moran@absolut.com direct dial: +1 212.641.8720 main: +1 212.641.8700 fax: +1 212.641.8703 mobile: +1 917.609.2463
No. but Mr. Moran is a smart a$$. Screw him and the Absolut he road in on.
Not good enough, we want our own absolut ad showing Ted Kennedy in jail for manslaughter.
According to dane there's no such thing as negative publicity and, us "extreme right wingers" are over reacting. Dane has a point. Look at how the Dixie Chicks benefited from their controversy!
What happened?
One of the things I wrote in my email was that this company was losing customers for life, not just for now.
I meant it, at least in my case. I am surprised I even got a response. My email was not very good and was truly more of a rant than anything. It may be an auto-response, but, I know there are others out here who are as po’d as I am. So, I had to pass it along.
Thanks.
I didn’t really want to swear off tea + Absolut citron forever.
I don’t buy that old adage about no such thing as negative publicity. If that were the case, no company would spend the fortunes they do trying to seduce and convince people to be their customers. Companies want good publicity, IMHO.
Really? A LOT of people still totally abhor the Dixie C**ts.
CindyDawg,
Are you wondering about the map controversy?
What is this refering to?
Yeah. Got a link?
OK, the original controversy is about a map used in a PR campaign (in Mexico) for Absolut vodka. I’ll try to get a link to it. It’s been here on FR, several times.
The map basically shows the northern border of Mexico located somewhere above/around Utah. Let me get the link, it will be easier that way.
OK, here on FR, you can go here and read a bit about it from the point of the company responding to the reaction -
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1996876/posts.
If you do a Freep search on Absolut, you’ll get much more.
Enjoy!
1 - The ad was a hoax.
2 - Us “Right Wing Extremists (those who support legal immigration but don't want to grant amnesty to criminal invaders) were over reacting.
3 - “There's no such thing as bad publicity.”
I pointed out that the publicity thing might be true for a rock star or other celebrity but not for a company selling a product. The celebrity thing didn't even work for the Dixie Chicks.
Dane failed to reply.
Who needs an Absolut insult when there’s Stolichnaya anyway?!
Gotchya. I was thinking I detected a note,,of the sarc. Yet, I’m tired and probably a bit foggy.
It seems were are of like minds on this.
I just saw this filth up on Drudge and ran straight to FR to see what the buzz was. Got Moran’s email addy off your post and here’s what I sent to him minutes ago:
“Moran, you are trying to create a real war, aren’t you?
Do you not understand how incredibly tense Americans are over illegal immigration from Mexico, and the Recoquista movement?
Are you unaware that fully 80+% of the American people want the invasion from Mexico stopped, and for the illegals to go home?
Are you completely unaware of the damage that the illegal Mexican invasion is doing to this country?
Do you not understand that widely distributed images such as the one you displayed in your “In An Absolut World” ad only fuel the separatist Mexican movement in this country?
And finally, how could you NOT know that using that image would adversely affect your company’s sales?
Good luck on keeping your job, traitor.

It’s still on drudge were 500M are seeing it a month. Have the screen capture to prove it.
“Who needs an Absolut insult when theres Stolichnaya anyway?!”
I like your spirit. I said the same thing too and then, a wonderful Freeper on an earlier thread pointed out that the parent company of this product also makes Stoli! Can you believe it! Well, yes. But I say, who needs Stoli anyway!
They don’t make Skyy, or another one touted here called Titos, from Austin, TX (I should know this one but I don’t).
