DESTROYING DETROIT; HOW LIBERALISM KILLED A CITY (Hip-Hop Kwame in heat)
NY POST ^ | April 1, 2008 | RICH LOWRY

Posted on 04/01/2008 11:51:24 AM PDT by Liz

Reform mayor now faces a slew of felony charges

It could be an item on a David Letterman Top Ten List of "How to Know Your Mayor is Headed for a Major Scandal" - he's known as the "Hip-Hop Mayor." That's what they call Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, now famous for text messages detailing the affair he had with his chief of staff. Kilpatrick had denied the relationship under oath in a lawsuit brought by two police officers Kilpatrick allegedly fired to cover up his personal misconduct. He has been indicted on eight felony counts including perjury and obstruction of justice. This would just be another dreary entry in the long annals of misbehaving politicians if it weren't for the backdrop of a decaying city. Elected at age 31 in 2002, Kilpatrick was supposed to bring youthful vitality to his job, and he talked about reform. Now, he's just another tragedy to befall Detroit, a city whose decline is - as psychologists put it - overdetermined, but stands as a stark statement of the failure of urban liberalism.

By any chance do these human turds go to Oboma’s church?

Just curious.

They are so digusting. Can’t keep their zippers up and have the ARROGNACE to bald face LIE about it. What kind of an example does this set for the kiddies?

THey should kick him out by the arse - physically and shame this creep.

You’d have to have been to Benton Harbor to appreciate the place. It’s as dead as Detroit, and there was no hurricane to help it along either.

I’m thinking Chicago is not too far behind Detroit and Philly.

What do you expect from Detroit when less than 25% graduate from high school! That is right less than 25%!!!

Pretty much a preview of what an Obama presidency would be like.

The riots of the late 60’s? I lived there then. I remember the national guard sitting in a jeep on the street corner with a machine gun mounted on top.

The history of riots in Detroit goes back to 1943, when the influx/overload of workers for new war factories created race tensions and riots.

It's been a cesspool to some greater or lesser degree ever since.

Atlanta’s next.

Atlanta's already there, at the city level. If Georgia was as messed as Michigan, Atlanta would look like Beirut.

That town needs an enema.

In Detroit's case that could be considered brain washing.

I listened to NPR the morning after he was indicted. The story was near the bottom of the list, it never said he was a rat, nor did it mention he is the son of a sitting Congresswoman.

That was the last NPR covered it.

Detroit is example of how civilization does not always advance, that it can step backward toward barbarism.

"I’m thinking Chicago is not too far behind Detroit and Philly."

MOST major big cities in trouble have gotten there by electing liberals. Pathetic, stupid democrats get what they deserve.

Actually, Chicago is seeing an outflow of its underclass to the South Suburbs and to south of the Mason Dixon line. Much of the near South and near West sides have been reclaimed by yuppies/DINKs.

You still get lots of illegals on the West Side, but many of them simply migrate out to suburbia for landscaping and service jobs after a few years.

Philly is much more likely to go the way of Detroit: little employment in the city proper, not enough yuppies to reclaim the areas outside of Center City, lack of immigrants of any stripe to prevent the black voting block from having dictatorial powers, etc.
