I think this article nails the problem. I was a teenager when Young became mayor. I remember thinking “He hates me and he doesn’t even know me.” His hatred, the threat of forced busing, and a long teachers’ strike drove a lot of people away.
Democrat sex-scandals are a cover for more serious crimes or possible crimes. Mayor Kwame, case in point, stands accussed of multiple felonies, none of which is sex, plus Mayor Kwame stonewalled a murder investigation involving a stripper.
I’ve been to BH many times—it’s a lovely locale that has been shat upon for decades and decades. When it comes to administrative corruption, however, it loses out to Detroit. What has gone on in Detroit, since Hizzoner’s time (with only the brief respite of former Mayor Dennis Archer) is simply staggering. Billions of dollars swallowed up since the 1960s. The New Orleans of the North, indeed!
OK, then. You know.
He's now known as the "Thug Nasty Nasty Thug" Mayor. His momma must be proud. But then again, she's probably as corrupt as he is.

From what I’ve read about this, it appears that he ordered the hit on her.
They don’t have that much of a death wish... that and Detroit has no jobs.
I think the “Hip-Hop Mayor” label came from Chris Rock. But he will be known as the “Da Big House Mayor” very soon.
Kwame and Spitzer have learned a bitter lesson about the old saying
“timing is anything”.
If they’d been found out after Democrats owned The Oval Office
AND The House of Representatives and US Senate...
they’d be saved by a full-press “It’s Just About Sex” campaign.
But their timing is bad. Being found out when Democrats have to
pretend to act like normal human beings with some sort of minimalist
morality...so they can get the votes they need in Nov. 2008.
In addition to my post 51, I forgot to mention my prediction:
If elected, President Obama or President Clinton will pardon these
poor, persecuted and wrongly-judged fellows, Kwame and Eliot.
And probably will give them Cabinet posts.
Exactly. All it takes is a Kwame the Barbarian and a combination of sycophants/enablers/co-conspirators/wannabees/creeps/punks/liars and thugs, and you have destroyed any resemblence of a city evolving in a positive direction.
