Attn McCain Apologists: Talk all you want!
But he's still a constitution trampling RINO and unless he repeals McCain-Feingold, repudiates amnesty and global warming, drops all support for embryonic stem cell research and stops talking about partnering up with the Democrats and instead swears to fight the evil bastards he won't be getting my support.
You kicked the conservatives to the curb and nominated your RINO, now all you gotta do is get him elected.
However, that shouldn't be all that tough to do. Look what he'll be running against. A corrupt, power hungry Marxist radical feminist control freak or a corrupt, America-hating racist Marxist surrender monkey (oops, can I say "surrender monkey" in this context?). Can't see America going for either of those two useful idiots.
By the way, "change" is a Marxist codeword.
As they say, America deserves better.
Carry on.
P.S.
Or, you can select a kick butt pro-God, pro-life, pro-family, pro-America, pro-gun, pro-drilling, pro-defense, pro-small government, fiscal conservative as your running mate and signal a return to traditional conservatism as the future of the GOP and of America and you will get all the support you need. If she's a moose hunting Alaskan army mom, all the better!
Thank you for calling a spade a spade. We are presented with choosing among Lenin, Stalin or Trotsky. Whatever the shades of grey, they are all socialists. In addition, the Democratic candidates truly hate everything American -— our values, history, liberties and free markets.
I am not sure I agree with “Can't see America going for either of those two useful idiots.” Even conservatives voted for six years for a big-government president and congress, who did not move even a finger to protect our borders. Isn't it telling also that McCain is a front-runner today, despite his long history of assault on our liberties and readiness to jump to the Democratic side? Just read the post on FR that concern economics and markets: most self-proclaimed conservatives but demand a nanny state and big-goverenment controls of markets --- for real estate, jobs, stocks --- once they lose money. Look at the visceral hatred of "CEOs" and "corporations."
When even the self-proclaimed conservatives want socialism, how can it possibly lose? Who is left to vote against it, you and I?
Don’t blame me, I’m voting for Ralph Nader...
Anybody that thinks I'm a McCain apologist hasn't been paying attention. I was disgusted by McCain's lack of balls or brains on the David Letterman show last night. If he can't even stand up to a two-bit hack of a comic and confront a false premise in a question, what chance does he have of countering the lies of a democrat opponent or democrat media lackey!
That said, at this point the reality is that McCain is running against either hillary or Obama. While I don't trust McCain to fight for conservative ideals as strongly as I want a GOP president to do, I KNOW that a hillary or Obama will wage all-out war against every conservative ideal that I hold dear. Given that reality, I see no choice but to vote for McCain in November.
Just out of curiosity, wireplay, what is your plan for the first Tuesday in November if you "won't vote for that piece of crap (McCain)"? Are you voting Democrat? Are you voting third party? Are you staying home? Are you getting drunk? btw, I won't call you any names, but hillary or obama will have you and those like you to thank if one of them is the next President.
Jim, maybe this would be another good poll question: Since John McCain (aka "that piece of crap") is the presumptive GOP nominee, what do you plan to do on November 4?
1. Vote for the GOP piece of crap
2. Vote for the democrat
3. Vote third party
4. Stay home
5. Get drunk
However, I will do battle against Hillbama by giving my money and vote to McCain. I see our nation under attack by the Marxists. I choose battle. Let others sit it out and gnash their teeth when Hillbama wins. At least I know my place won't be with those timid souls.
Will I be happy if McCain wins. No. But the fact remains that the alternative is unthinkable.
#3 and #5.
As I have stated before, I don’t trust McCain’s temper. I hold that above a lot of other things since he will have so much power and an inability to control his anger.
At some point it becomes like Charlie Brown and Lucy. Do you really trust her to hold the football so you can kick it? At what point do you simply say enough is enough?
I sir, find that unconscionable.
No, I don't trust Lucy. If I were Charlie, I would run up just like I'm going to kick the ball, then when she holds the ball up like she always does, I run behind her, take the ball, and run around the end to score a touchdown, and everybody will think we executed a perfect "Statue of Liberty" play.
Not quite sure how that will relate to McCain unless taking the ball is an allusion to the people of Arizona replacing McCain in the senate with an actual conservative republican, and the party works to reignite the conservative revolution of 1994 within the Congress.
No RINO ping
But well said.
I've boiled this election down (personally) to two Hobson choices:
Briefly, if the Dems get in, we get a couple of disasters on the court but the GOP can block the worst of the legislation that might go through.
If McCain gets in, the judges might be somewhat decent, but will the GOP block any of McCain's crazy legislation? The Dims won't. They agree with him.
So I'm sitting here thinking about what's more important and which can do more permament or long-lasting damage: the courts or Congress. I don't like the choices. Then again, I'm in New York, so it's not like I'll really have an impact anyway -- except maybe in cyberspace.
Who nominated the RINO? I'm pretty tired of the current system where it seems liberal/independents are choosing our candidates.
Change? 4 weeks of primaries divided roughly by timezones. East/Central/Mountain/West coast. We could rotate which zone goes first for each presidential election. Each candidate gets a full hour of PBS to lay out their agenda for their vision for America.
Iowa and New Hampshire can pout all they want.
McCain would win in a landslide with a two minute speech that says:........
In other words, do what politicians do, lie his ass off.
This "RINO" stuff.
The Republican Party as far as I can see is almost as much the party of big government and socialism as the Dems. I figure I'm the RINO and Specter, McCain, Hagel etc. are the true Republicans.
Again, I'm going to vote for (and strongly support) McCain. It's easier to climb out of a five-foot hole than a 30-foot one.
And there is a reasonable chance McCain will give us the final judge needed to fix the federal courts.
Dubya has been acting pretty socialist/internationalist recently but it was his judges that said, against his wishes, that international law has no relevance to Texas death penalty appeals. And if DC residents end up being allowed to have firearms it will his judges that do it, again despite his wishes.
Also, McCain won't surrender in Iraq or the WOT. The other two? HA!!
Suppose that Giuliani were the nominee instead of McCain. The pro-Giuliani argument would be:
“We know that Hillary and Obama will nominate pro-abortion judges. Giuliani has promised that he will appoint judges like Scalia, Thomas, Alito and Roberts, and he might keep his word.”
Similarly, at CPAC McCain promised he would secure the border first, but since then he has shown signs that he is not going to keep his promise.
On May 13 2008, he did not vote for the Sessions amendment that would have required a “zero tolerance” border policy and mandated a sorely needed (especially after 9/11) Visa Exit system. Also, he has been telling Republicans not to be tough on immigration.
I won’t vote for Hillary or Obama, but it’s difficult for me to vote for someone who, although he keeps repeating his promise, shows no interest whatsoever in keeping it.
Thanks for the ping. Hope you are doing well.
We have a system in place of selecting the nominee. John McCain prevailed in that system. I didn’t vote for nor supported McCain in our primary. A lot of people aren’t happy with the outcome but that’s the way it is. If they don’t like it then they need to ban together and make the changes needed to suit their wants in the Party structure.
That said I’ll vote for McCain based upon two reasons which are:
a] The next SCOTUS nominees
b] The men and women of your military
I’m convinced that any other vote will help elect either Hillary or Obama and I know they will not be the best for this country. The major effort needs to be put in selectintg down ticket conservatives at both the federal/state level to counter McCain when he strays too far off the beaten path.
Have a nice one.
b] The men and women of your military

"Obama shakes hands over a fence with the overflow crowd prior to speaking at a town hall meeting at Wilkes University in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., Tuesday..."
Right now Hillary and Obama are all over my state of PA, and many people here are madly infatuated with Obama. From what I see going on here, Obama will be the next president and end up doing great harm to the USA because of the war on terror and the Supreme Court.
I'll be voting for McCain, even though I've been furious with him in the past.
The only thing good about Obama becoming president is that he could be an inspiration to troubled black kids, who definitely need a role model to get educated and stay out of trouble.
Nobody can tell anyone how to vote, and it will not be decided here at FR. IMO, Obama will win in Nov. because people seem to love the guy, no matter what comes out about him.
"Stephanie LaCapra 22, a recent graduate and resident of New York, cries as she listens to Democratic presidential hopeful, Sen. Barack Obama D-Ill., speak at Penn State University in University Park , Pa., Sunday, March 30."
That's quite a shiner you've got there. Has someone talked to you about battered spouse syndrome?
The gleam wore off "sometimes" several decades ago.
The beatings will continue until morale improves - bet on it.
Well, I can’t say who will be the next President because there is so much time between now and then. I continue to pray for a miracle and will accept God’s will, of course I won’t know that till it happens, lol.
Until then, I can’t support “any lesser evil”, just pray for another option (hense my miracle). =)
