Report: N.Y. Gov. Paterson Used State Funds for Trip to S.C. With Former Mistress

Tuesday , March 25, 2008

AP

ALBANY, N.Y. — A published report says that years after Gov. David Paterson said he ended an affair with a state employee, he traveled with her to South Carolina while working on Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's presidential campaign.

The Times Union of Albany says he billed the state for the trip.

Paterson spokesman Errol Cockfield didn't immediately respond to a request for comment today. He told the newspaper he couldn't explain why records show Paterson and the $151,000-a-year employee were at the same inn.

“He told the newspaper he couldn’t explain why records show Paterson and the $151,000-a-year employee were at the same inn.”

That’s funny, because I can explain and I don’t even know these people.

Albany is a cesspool of corruption. David Paterson, a compromised character, will never clean it up.

All the money these guys have came from the state. They’ve never worked a blessed day in their lives.

Notice though that no one is demanding his resignation.

“They forgot the (D) next to his name.....”

First paragraph says he was working on the Clinton campaign. Sort of gives you a clue.

Oh, but he is BLACK!... Should we not give him a pass?...

You know... If you go down the list of the most 'honorable' black leaders, you will find this 'kind of thing' is rather common... Not to mention the FIRST BLACK PRESIDENT!... Bubba himself... loved and adored by them.

It’s probably enough that they state that he is a New York State elected official. Ah, New York - the gift that keeps on giving.

Isn't the real problem this:

...while working on Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's presidential campaign....he billed the state for the trip.

And why should the NY state taxpayers have to pay this guy while he's working for somebody else? Forget who he may or may not have slept with.

Cases like this (i.e., a political figure who belongs to a racial or ethnic minority group) typically unfold through a Federal indictment and prosecution, not through normal means of removing someone from office.

Marion Barry (Washington), Kwame Kilpatrick (Detroit) and Sharpe James (Newark, NJ) are three who immediately come to mind.

Okay, so who’s on deck?

It's the head of the New York Senate, and he they will NOT allow Patterson to go down because the next guy has an "R" behind his name.
