The rough treatment Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton is giving Sen. Barack Obama may be good, real-world training if he becomes the Democratic presidential nominee and gets elected, but in the meantime shes helping Republican Sen. John McCain.
She may well have cut an actual campaign ad for McCain when she said at a national security event last week, "Sen. McCain has a lifetime of experience. I have a lifetime of experience. And Sen. Obama made one speech in 2002."
McCain also could reprise Clintons "red phone" ad in a campaign against Obama but then, he could also use the Obama campaigns lengthy knockdown of Clintons claims of extensive foreign-policy experience if she somehow wrests the nomination from him.
Meanwhile, former Rep. Geraldine Ferraros, D-N.Y., jibe that Obama would not be a presidential contender if he werent a black male while arguably true was designed to amplify racial polarization in the Democratic Party and could do so in the general election, as well.

Hillary and Obama are taking too many hits to stay in the race.
Look for the Dems to punt both and go with Al Gore at their Denver DNC convention.
Hillary’s refusal to get out of the race now that she is mathematically eliminated is destroying the DEM party....pass the popcorn.
I agree. Al Gore is getting his acceptance speech out of the lock box.
The Clintons have 80 years between them invested in the Democratic party.
The expected payback to them is the POTUS nomination for Hillary.
If she doesn’t get it - the Clintons will destroy the Democratic party. More power to them I say.
Nope they're armored in their own unflinching stupidity. (Let's do a chant "Change change change" in a hip hop beat for Obama that really shows how qualified he is to head the executive branch of governemnt.)
Other than confidently stating that Hillary WILL give the veep spot to Obama and that Obama WILL accept, Mort really doesn’t go into detail as to just why the dems won’t come apart.
I will admit it would be a piece with decades of conditioned obedience. Bill & Hill kicked their sacred minorities (feminists, gays, unions, blacks) in the teeth numerous times during their years in power (Monica, gays-in-the-military, NAFTA, Welfare Reform) and always, after some bucking and snorting they came crawling back to lick “massa’s” boots, but there’s a first time for everything and I really can’t see blacks turning out in significant numbers for Mizz Hillary even if she has Obama as her lawn jockey going into the general.
I disagree.
The only way that Hillary wins this is if she pulls a fast one with the Super-delegates and if she does, the Democrats can say goodby to the Black and youth vote.
Obama is not going into the Convention leading in the pledged delegates and popular vote and have Hillary snatch it from him and then take second spot on the ticket!
No matter who wins this, the Democrats are going to have at least 25% of each group defecting to vote against the candidate, no matter how much each candidate attempts to reconcile.
We haven't even gotten into April yet, wait until we are into June and if Hillary is still running see how bitter Obama's people are going to be.
It looks like Hillary is setting up Obama for defeat so she can run again in 2012.
The longer this goes, the more fractured the Democrats are going to become.
Each side had a chance for a historical first and whoever loses that chance is going to be very bitter about it.
Finally, McCain doesn't threaten the Democrats as would someone who is more conservative.
So, I don't see a big problem with many Democrats voting for him as a way to get Hillary another shot in 2012, or Blacks just staying home in protest if Obama is robbed.
It seems you must really, really, really believe Gore is going to be the one...’cause you keep posting it over & over & over.
Naaaaah.
How ‘bout that!
Snort. Like Kondracke would know. Sometimes I wonder how someone as clueless as he is can get—and keep—a job on a cable news show as a commentator.
Now, if she moves up to #1 and if she again extends an offer to Obama, and if he actually accepts it, I would be amazed -- because Bill would be #2 in the regime. Obama would be the boy sent out for coffee and pastries when the big meetings come around. Obama knows that.
Still, because politicians have no shame, I giess Obama might accept it. But I think the GOP might have some fun with the concept.
I wouldn't put it past the Democrat leadership to do something that silly. If they do, there will be riots, and all the Dem voters who have a bit of sanity left will end up voting for McCain.
Oh, I believe we should stage protests in every major municipality.
Stir it up, “Hillary stole the nomination” [from the young, hopeful, black guy]
Nah. Gore is a loser. I'm hoping they'll nominate Juan McCain, and then the Republican Convention can start all over again and pick a decent candidate.
?? They're ALREADY cracked!
How about R&B? It's been running through my head off and on as I watch the First Black President's wife try to wrest power from the First Black Presidential candidate that the Clintons helped give a start to...
Chay-chay-CHAAAAAAANGE...
CHANGE of FOOO-ooools....
“Democrats wont fracture”
They will explode in a spectacular fireball.
