Will Rush Limbaugh Be Indicted for Voter Fraud?

As Ohio election officials investigate illegal crossover voting in the 2008 primary, questions arise on Rush Limbaugh's role.

Limbaugh, the nation's top-rated talk radio host, was urging Republicans in Texas and Ohio to skip their party's primary on March 4 and instead cast a vote for Hillary Clinton in order to prolong the fight between her and Barack Obama.

What Limbaugh encouraged Republican voters to do in Ohio was a fifth-degree felony in that state, punishable with a $2,500 fine and six to 12 months in jail.

On Thursday, March 20, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reported that the "Cuyahoga County Board of Election has launched an investigation that could lead to criminal charges against voters who maliciously switched parties for the March 4 presidential primary."

In 2008, 2.22 million Ohioans voted in the Democratic primary, compared to 1.27 million in 2000, according to unofficial results released by Brunner's office. In contrast, 1.01 million Ohioans voted in the 2008 Republican primary, compared to nearly 918,000 people in 2004.

Michael Slater of Project Vote, a nonpartisan group that designs voter registration drives for low-income people, said GOP meddling in the Ohio Democratic Primary was a clear-cut example of fraudulent voting, which is how Republicans have defined the issue in recent years, as GOP advocates have urged state legislatures and Congress to adopt anti-fraud measures such as tougher voter ID laws.

"Here we have a real instance of spurring people on to engage in illegal election activities with a real intent to affect the outcome," Slater said. "That is voter fraud. People were encouraged to break the law. They had to declare allegiance to a political party and sign a document under penalty of perjury. Intent is what matters in voter fraud."

Question 1: Is it illegal to switch parties? If not, you have no case!

Is Rush Limbaugh the modern day John Adams? An American who still has his testicles.

Look, Rush is right on a lot of things but he's almost NEVER been right about them.

Other than Hillary running for the Senate (winning doesn't count-right or left one tends to try to foster an idea of defeat for the candidate one is against) Rush has been batting about .800. That the Clintons have been able to extricate themselves form various tough positions is more of an example of mafia-ish arm twisting/calling in chits/FBI files with defense by the MSM that has covered their arses. Rush has learned from those experiences and has made his predictions more conditional.

In the final analysis I believe you are playing this whole issue out as a danger because you fear the Clintons and resent Rush essentially cheerleading for a resurrection that you deem reckless. Believe it or not I felt that way as it happened. "We can beat Obama, put a stake through the Clintons while the chance is there. The clinton's will undermine Obama to preserve 2012." I still feel that way but now that FL and MI are seemingly finalized (which Rush of course didn't know would disinigrate but knew there would be the same chaos effect if the two states had gone forward with revotes) and the Wright issue is slightly subsiding, Richardson has endorsed and the MSM is admitting, in trickles, that Hillary has no path but the Superdelegates, I'm feeling better. Hillary won the beauty contest for Texas (but less delegates) while winning Ohio outright but in the end only gained 10 or 12 delegates. It was a victory of headlines of which Rush understood before and after. Rush also understood that Obama would win Wyoming and Mississippi and again enlarged his lead. PA will only make a minor gain for Hillary while that same bump will be eliminated by the NC primary.

Bottomline is that other than a few see-saw changes the delegate race is relatively over. The populare vote is relatively over. The Super-delegate fight is almost over. Therefore the Clintons are almost over. Rejoice.

You actually believe there's a case here?

It doesn't matter what I think. An overzealous prosecutor can indict a ham sandwich. And a clever one can play a grand jury so that there's no way to later charge him with malicious prosecution.

Eliot Spitzer made an entire career out of going after people on shakier evidence than this, and if he hadn't enjoyed a taste for $4000/hour hookers he might have been the next US AG.

You are so correct.
We Conservatives are never “anti Commie”
any other point of view would be a complete waste of brain power.

I'm glad someone, after 293 posts, finally challenged Behind Liberal Lines on the Florida issue, because it keeps coming up, implicitly, in almost all replies Behind Liberal Lines has made.

Behind Liberal Lines , I respectfully don't want to get into an argument with the rest of your thinking, but the Florida thing just struck this Rush fan (and no I'm afraid to disagree with Rush) in the wrong way.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it was my understanding that Rush was deploying Operation Chaos to help Hillary win NC too.

Even you accept the logic of helping her win TX, at some point, the job is/was done and his continued efforts on her "behalf" get more and more dangerous.

Sorry Rush is wrong, but he is not stupid, he has vested interest in Hillary being President.

I'll agree he's not stupid, but I'll disagree that he has any interest in Hillary being POTUS.

I hope Rush brings this up tommorrow. Can you imagine being indicted for providing an political endorsement?

What's a 5th degree felony anyway? Probably up there with tearing the tags off matresses.

I'm glad there are people who have the nerve to challenge the Nifongs of the world. Why would you want to enable abusers of the justice system?

But why give the Nifongs an excuse?

Rush isn't a college kid at a frat party who doesn't realize the stripper is insane. He's an educated middle-aged man from a family of lawyers acting recklessly and creating a yet another opportunity for the 'Rats to smear us all.

Life isn't fair. Sure, the 'Rats get away with this stuff all the time. But we don't and, sadly, in today's environment, we need to be twice as careful as the other side.

Michael Slater’s a big lib! He’ll just be happy to hear Rush mention his name on air tomorrow.
