Climate denial is persistent (Br-Arf!)

Regarding global warming and the search for cleaner ways of using energy, it was day and night at the state Capitol on Monday.

At the governor’s office, Democrat Brian Schweitzer was talking with U.N. ambassadors from Denmark, Finland, Iraq and Thailand, who wanted to know how the state is promoting “clean and green” energy technology in response to climate change.

Elsewhere in the building that same day, Republicans on the Environmental Quality Council, which was considering suggestions in a state global-warming report, were calling the very concept of global warming caused by carbon emissions into the atmosphere a “lie” that has been “politicized” by forces insisting that industrial pollution is to blame.

Yeah, and Ralph Nader still doesn’t think there’s any difference between the parties.

Several Democrats on the council expressed frustration with those attitudes. Rep. Sue Dickenson, D-Great Falls, said arguing about whether humans have a role in climate change is like a debate over the stork’s role in human reproduction. “Eventually you get to the point where the scientific information is so overwhelming that it’s time to discredit the stork as a deliverer of babies,” she said.

Sen. Dave Wanzenried, D-Missoula, wondered what amount of science would ever be enough to convince skeptics.

By now, it seems clear that the answer is no amount. Not when “faith-based” politics based on the gospel according to the likes of Rush Limbaugh judges scientific findings not by the consensus of the leading experts but by how well those findings fit into a rigidly conservative political orthodoxy.

After all, when you reject science, rigid orthodoxies are about all that’s left.

This has been the coldest winter on record for some time. . .but it’s all because of global warming. ;)

Wonder who the voters will vote for with gasoline prices so high. All three candidates are in the cult of Gaia.

Bovine Scat......

....plenty of scientific proof against Anthropomorphic Climate change....and thats the proof that the Socialists refuse to look at.

Not a mater of us ignoring science...its a mater of ignoring lies that will make America a third world power.

They're the ones in denial: Global cooling is a real problem that is actually ocurring, and is actually harmful—unlike global warming.

This clown doesn't see how well her argument makes the opposite point from what she wants to make.

Use of “Denial” makes the theory of Global Warming morally equivalent to the Holocaust, the only other occurence to which “Denial” is applied. Where are the 12 million murdered by Global Warming? Where are the ovens?

Editorial malfeasance is persistent.

Yep. And, had it been the warmest that would ALSO be because of global warming

Isn't it nice to hedge your bets? To have it both ways?

After all....the debates over. Haven't you heard?

Many Global Warming books are yet to be written, some by Dr Peter Ward, but the political scene has moved on.

Not when “faith-based” politics based on the gospel according to the likes of Rush Limbaugh judges scientific findings not by the consensus of the leading experts but by how well those findings fit into a rigidly conservative political orthodoxy.

Again, this applies to global worming apologists far better than to skeptics.

Trotting out the Limbaugh bogeyman is easier than looking at facts yourself.

And talk about a "rigid political orthodoxy" - where is there one more rigid than the "consensus" of "leading experts"?

QUESTION: How do you get to be a "leading expert"?

ANSWER: Speak the orthodox opinion in a convincing way.

“Regarding global warming and the search for cleaner ways of using energy, ....”

This statement pretty much encapsulates the ignorance and stupidity of the vast majority of AGW fanatics.

Carbon dioxide isn’t dirty — it’s essential for life. The same applies to the number one “greenhouse” gas — water vapour.

Western nations cleaned up emissions 25 years ago. China, and several other developing nations, continue to spew out the pollution — but, they’re exempt from Kyoto.

No one is opposed to more efficient energy use. However, many of us are opposed to using up our food supplies for fuel — and thereby causing real hardship for billions of people today. (As opposed to the imagined scenarios of hardships in the distant future.) We also oppose throwing taxpayers money at subsidies for very expensive “clean” energy.

The deniers to worry about are the Global Warming Debate Dniers who continue to deny — against all easily verified evidence to the contrary — that there are hundreds of credentialed and respected climatologists who disagree strongly with the Global Warming Alarmist Agenda.

“ “global warming” has been called the biggest hoax ever perpetuated against the people. The big names supporting the “theory” are in it for the “money” since without it they would not see millions in taxpayers money to continue their “so-called” research. It has already been proven that elements of the model they are using are “flawed”, which means the end results will also be flawed. If man is generating all those bad greenhouse gases, how come al-Gore [et al] are traveling around the globe aboard private jets which create far more greenhouse gases than us peons do with out cars? In one “one-way” trip to Las Vegas last year, al-Gore created more greenhouse gases than “”10 round trips in the family car”” would have.

“ 1000 years ago an explorer named Lief, son of a Viking king named Eric, found an new land. Today we call it Greenland. As today Greenland is mostly covered with ice, some ask why call it Greenland. Well, 1000 years ago the climate of Greenland was 5 to 6 degrees WARMER than it is today. It was not covered with ice but was a green lush land. Somewhat of a paradise it seems. After 1000 years of cooling the climate is re-warming again. Since warming has supposedly been proven to be man made, what then was the cause of the warmer weather way back then, cow flatulence? That said...The earth warms and the earth cools and we should try not to pollute either way. It is a stupid argument that asks when we should stop poisoning our planet. We should stop when it is warm and we should stop when it is cold. “

“ In about four years, the global warming crowd will find itself in the same place as the “population bomb” doomsayers and the “ice age cometh” predictors and the “millennium meltdown” worry warts. Waiting for the end. Or maybe waiting for the next prediction of the end. Actually, now that I think about it, they've all been the same people. In the meantime, don't forget to brush your teeth and hoe the garden. “

mtsilvertip wrote on Mar 12, 2008 7:59 AM:
“ Yes I agree. The stork theory has been discredited and so now the science is proving that man has virtually NO effect on “global warming”. The church of green may preach all it wants against this country and against our standards of living, but the so called “science” of the guru of gia AlGore is pure bunk. Even the socialist utopia England has thrown out the garbage he promotes in his propaganda film.
There is too much history proving climate moves including several periods of warming and cooling without humans to interfere to believe any of the garbage put forth by the “greens” agenda to destroy this country.
Conservation is a good thing economically, reducing the use of any resource while maintaining a good living leaves more money in the pockets of all who pay for energy while reducing. This is good for everybody. BUT we should conserve and become efficient for our own benefit, not because someone like AlGore can make huge piles of money from it. “

It's snowing right now in Pocatello, ID. We have snow in the forecast for the next 4 days. My daffodils are still in the ground. The grass was still soft, wet and matted with snow mold yesterday. Now a new layer of snow is on top. It typically takes about 2-3 weeks of dry weather above the melt point before I can rake the snow mold off and stand the grass up again. That's going to be early April at this rate.
