Will Alan Keyes Bolt The GOP? (possible Constitution Party run)
Radar Online (New York) ^ | March 7, 2008 | Nick Curran

Posted on 03/07/2008 11:58:49 PM PST by Kurt Evans

Presidential candidate Alan Keyes may be leaving the GOP. In a conference call last night, Keyes is said to have told supporters that staying in the Republican Party would be "an occasion of sin" and he's ready to bolt. Keyes ... reportedly wants no part in selecting the "type of deodorant we need to make a stinking candidate acceptable to conservatives." A Keyes supporter confirms to Radar that the former Reagan administration official "stated in the conference call that he could no longer remain in the Republican Party."

As for what's next, a third party bid seems like a good bet. Keyes hinted at the possibility on a radio program in January, and an e-mail sent out by the campaign after last night's conference call ... included a link for supporters who "want to vote for Alan as your 1st, 2nd and 3rd choice on the Constitution Party presidential poll." A Keyes message board commenter who claims to have been on the conference call last night said regarding the possibility of a Constitution Party run that, "Alan asked us to pray about it." ...

*****The Const. Party perverts our constitution.
The Const. Party is no better than what the far left anti war liberals are advocating.

since the CP views are in line with the democrat party, it would save you time to support them and post like minded views at the DU site.*****

Why are you lying about the Constitution Party? It is the one party that actually does honor the Constitution.

It is for small government, pro gun, pro life, pro family, etc.

Why you would want to distort the truth about the CP baffles me.

Thanks for posting that link. I’m half way through watching and I cannot find anything with which to disagree or that any reasonable person could find offensive.

Thanks for posting that link.

You are welcome, I am sure, but your thanks would better go to our FRiend, EternalVigilance. Without his original posting of same on #11, you and I would have nothing. ;)

I wouldn’t vote for McCain if he was the only candidate or if the Devil himself (herself) was the other candidate. I feel dirty having voted for Bush twice. I couldn’t live with myself if I voted for McCain.

He is indeed a FRiend, but being as he is unaccustomed to praise here lately, I’ll give you the credit. LOL

You may be right *wink, wink*... Such a reversal from his accustomed role might cause him undue damage- I will be sure to pass it on quietly... :D

I've been trying to warn Freepers as to the danger of the CP. Maybe this will open their eyes. The CP has no intention of ever winning an election. They're a bunch of hit-and-run cowards who take people's money and hope and then disappear.

If these people really cared about advancing the agenda we all want, they'd go to work in the only viable conservative party--the Republican party. We would be so much stronger.

Too many on the right are asserting that McCain winning the Presidency would be better for the republic than if a democrat wins. With a leftist republican as Prez, he will get more support for his leftist agenda from conservatives in congress than a Dem Prez because he has that “R” after his name, much like the people here are willing to vote him. There is no “win” for us in this presidential election, pathetically it will be better to have a dem prez than McCain, at least moderate and conservatives in congress would try to fight their leftist agenda.

McCain as a Senator has done more harm to this party than the dem’s were ever able to do, now republicans are willing to promote him to Prez?

Beam me up Scotty!

At least nader will have someone he can beat in the race.
Alan could have been a contender but for boneheaded decisions.

Alan, nice way to reach for irrelevence and further harm the conservative movement.

What grudging respect he earned will now get wiped away.

“As opposed to McCain, whose aggressive military interventionism would make Cheney look like Gandhi:”

Hmm. I like Cheney and I like Gandhi. So if McCain can make one look like the other, he sounds pretty good too.

Keyes is embarrassing himself. Sigh.

“If we can get a majority back in congress, great things could happen.”

A very big “if.” The thing to look at in my view are the retirements. The people who are currently in office have a pretty good idea of what their chances are for re-election or their party gaining power. Judging from the number of retirements on the GOP side, they’re not seeing a very pretty picture unfolding.
