Clinton: ‘Be careful what you wish for, Rush’ By Klaus Marre Posted: 03/05/08 09:30 AM [ET]

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (N.Y.), buoyed by important victories in the Democratic primaries in Texas, Ohio and Rhode Island, on Wednesday offered some words of warning to conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh, who had urged Republicans to vote for her as the presumptively easier Democrat to beat.

“Be careful what you wish for, Rush,” Clinton said on Fox News.

For the second time during this campaign season, the former first lady survived what many viewed as a potential knockout punch from frontrunning Sen. Barack Obama (Ill.). While Obama maintains a significant delegate lead, he was unable to seal the nominations Tuesday night, having to concede another two populous states to Clinton.

“By getting the most delegates, by having won twice as many states, by having a lead in the popular vote we feel as if we are on pace to get the nomination,” Obama said Wednesday morning in an appearance on the same network. “And it will take a little longer than would be true if we weren’t running against a Clinton, but we’re still going to end up getting it.”

However, instead of being able to focus on Sen. John McCain (Ariz.), the newly crowned Republican nominee, Obama must now continue to expend his considerable resources on the Democratic primary.

The Clinton campaign is seeking to use the breathing room the former first lady was given in polling places in Texas, Ohio and Rhode Island to map out its “path to the presidency,” as a memo from strategists Harold Ickes and Mark Penn was labeled.

In the document, the Clinton team says it is “time for a second look” on the race and the candidates and argued that the “momentum has swung

And if Hildy is the nominee, Obama will be her VP.

So what was accomplished by encouraging Republicans to cross over and vote for her?

Nothing.

It actually, ultimately, made BOTH Rat candidates stronger, b/c it became more clear and more likely that, no matter what happens from here on out or at the convention, their various constituencies are at least assured of getting a consolation prize (the VP).

I’m sorry that was very pessimistic...I am so disappointed that we didn’t get rid of Hillary last night. History would suggest that if the Dems held the White House for eight years, they would lose the next election. Only two VP’s have succeeded a two term president-Truman and Bush 1- so be of good cheer!

The only chance I believe that McCain has to win is if he faces hillary at the top of the ticket. He’s an old bitter man with little charisma, she’s an old wrinkled women with no charisma. And I think on the the public will vote for the bitter old man.
Obama is the biggest factor in the election however. The major down side to the clinton-obama race is that they might join forces and run together. That’s probably where this is heading if she wins the nomination, based on how hillary is talking. And I think at this point she’s the favorite. Pledged delegates don’t mean anything, the fact that Obama has a 90 or 100 delegate lead is not important. Hillary won Ohio easily, and it’s Ohio and Pennsylvania that will decide this election. If McCain is smart he’ll pick Santorum to be his running mate.
My hope, and I’m probably reaching for straws at this point, is that obama hates her as much as we do. If he somehow manages to head into the convention with a delegate lead, and she ends up winning, I hope he is so bitter and angry that he rejects the veep offer. Thus handing a landslide victory to McCAin. Because democrat vote will be suppressed.

Why does everyone think SHE will pick HIM as running mate? She cannot beat him in the delegates. Everyone acts like she won so big last night that it’s over for him.
Far from it. Unless he conceeds, its his and he has as much fight in him as she does in winning this thing.

As for Rush, I am sickened sometimes at what goes on. Any republican voting for a demonrat is just twisted manipulation.

I’m still out on who would be easier to beat, I go back and forth. It’s hard to judge: unlikability vs. inexperience.

If I am trying to juggle, and I have a choice between three rocks of unequal size and shape or three perfectly round and uniform glass balls filled with VX Nerve Gas, I am gonna juggle the rocks even if it is harder to do. Either way I might drop one, and I would rather drop a rock.

President Hillary Rodham Clinton is a risk we should not be willing to take.

If Obama wins, he cannot name Hillary as his VP. She would have him assassinated; he knows that, she knows that, and everyone around the both of them knows that. The other way around is possible and not something I look forward to seeing.

Obama would be far easier to beat in a general election matchup .

It's very likely that the ticket will end up with both Hildy and Obama on it, in whatever order.

So trying to analyze which would be easier to beat in the general election isn't very worthwhile. We're going to have to beat BOTH of them.

This stunt of supporting Hildy in Super Tuesday II only made this Rat "dream ticket" scenario more likely. MUCH more likely. If she had gotten the knock-out punch she deserved, Obama wouldn't have to be even be thinking about her as a VP, as he will now if he happens to get the nomination. Plus, the Sinkmeister would be finished as the party's de facto leader and the 'Toons would have less of an impact on the brokering at the convention. This was a really dumb move, Rush.

Disagree.

McCain has already made it clear that he wouldn’t do what it takes to beat Obama for fear of being painted as a racist.

It would be a disaster for him if she ever faded from the political scene.

That is true of Dick Morris, but I don't think Rush has a stake in Mrs. Clinton's political survival.

McCain's assault on the first amendment, specifically with regards to the freedom of practicing political speech are an assault on the very underpinnings of this nation.

His embrace of crimmigrants, at the expense of the personal safety of US Citizens and the economy suggest to me he IS a potential danger.

The only thing Rush wishes for is better ratings and more money to spend on his lavish lifestyle.

Rush said it himself years ago, "My job is not to win elections, it's to do the best radio show possible."

Rush has to realize McCain has no chance regardless. Perhaps his stunt was motivated by spite. Strikes me as kicking the checkerboard table.

their various constituencies are at least assured of getting a consolation prize (the VP).

And they both are assured of being front page news for weeks to come as McCain will be lucky to get a Drudge headline once in a while.

Voting for Hillary was as dumb as it gets.

If Obama wins, he cannot name Hillary as his VP.

So then you would have Obama as POTUS, and Hillary as Senate Majority Leader.

UNGGGH!

I have no issue with how you vote.

Insinuating that Rush is only after money, though, I have an issue with.

Rush’s reasoning is wholly flawed. All this stunt did was exponentially increase the likelihood that BOTH Rats will be on the ticket, in whatever order. In that case, Hildy will cover up for Obama and Obama will cover up for her. It will be extremely harmful to the country and the process. Then they will spend the next eight years covering up for each other, and then continue this when Obama runs for prez again as an incumbant VP. Rush: this was very dumb.

WElll who will make the decision about who will be on whose ticket. Right now Obama has the most delegates so why would he be beholden to an evil woman. Hillary believes she is owed the top position and she willll ONLY accept second string if all else fails. So while McCain is attempting to fix up his speech cash self legislated drought, old Hillary will try and take Obama out or be forced to settle for second place. That fight is not going to be a pretty sight.

I guess the Republicans can cross over in PA and give the win to Obama if they are that worried about Hillary.
