***Please read the article. It is not about shotgun shells. It mentions .40 caliber handgun rounds, but no shotgun-pistols or anything of the sort.****
This is the ONLY mention of caliber.
“Hill shot the vest with a .40-caliber firearm. The bullet did not penetrate the 15-year-old vest.”
So, what was he shooting that delivers steel darts?

Well I’ve never found running around like a chicken with its head cut off to be very effective.

“after the cops were seen on TV running away like frightened schoolgirls”
I have footage of that on tape, at the beginning of the riots at ground zero, motorists are being attacked and the police drive around the victims to escape the violence.

Try the new .825 handgun ammo. It won't penetrate a vest, but it does have knockdown power. The brass says it's a straight walled revolver round. Who makes the revolver? Perhaps a T/C Encore pistol would be a satisfactory platform. A bottle of ibuprofen might be a good accessory after shooting it.

A couple of our local SWAT officers are alive today because they wore their vests. The suspect fired multiple rounds of .357 magnum at the officers. One officer was hit on the collar bone (covered by the vest). It broke the collar bone, but did not penetrate. The 2nd officer to a round through the buttocks (the lead is still in his butt) and a second round in the back (covered by the vest). The round in the back would have gone right through his heart if not for the vest. It still left a big bruise underneath.
It's a good idea to wear the vest. On average, you have a better chance of survival in a SWAT operation.

Funny you should mention pizza deliveries. One of the largest body armor companies was started by a guy that was delivering pizzas and ended up in a shoot out where he killed the badguys.
To: theBuckwheat
All of the energy is focused on the tiny end of the dart, so it has more penetrating power....big deal. It’s not like the police are going to do anything different because this ammo is on the street.
Cross bows will penetrate body armor too...do we need to outlaw those before some modern day Robin Hood gets ahold of one and holds America hostage? lol

Not true.
The federal definition of “armor piercing” is very different from what normal people think the term means, as it has nothing to do with actual ability to pierce armor, only with the materials it is constructed from.
