McCain has to be laughing right now. The liberal drive by media is actually doing everything in their power to make me support him despite his liberalism.

Someone tried to use this claim against George Romney back in 1968. Not USA born.

Some shyster lawyer tried the same crap against Goldwater (born in Arizona before it was a state) in '64.

If the NY Slimes is on this bull crap beat, it officially moves them to full tabloid status.

Bill Clinton did not get any big liberal laws passed.

Obama is NOT Bill Clinton. This guy has a completely socialist agenda in mind.

Having spent two years in the Panama Canal Zone in the service of the U.S.Navy I can say:McCain’s Parents were Naval Personell! He was most probably born in a Naval Hospital,in that he was the dependent of an active duty Naval Officer.....

End of story...

McCain is not perfect but he is far, far better than the alternative. He will appoint judges like Roberts and Alito and Coburn has promised to hold him to it. Bush couldn’t get away with Miers. McCain won’t either.

Probably already been said, but an American base, AF, Army, Navy, is considered by our laws to BE AMerican soil.

While on bases, American laws apply, and children born of American citizens at those hospitals are considered the SAME as any child born on US soil within the United States.

Half of our family was born in the continental US, the other half was born in North Africa (Noussseur AFB), and in Turkey (Cigli AFB) and they are considered to have been born on American soil.

I have never read such complete drivel as that spewed by the NYT.

What complete A-—s they are, and how stupid do they think the rest of us are? Obviously not one person on the NYT staff has ever met anyone in any of our militaries, or they would know that the article is a complete fabrication.

Good that they are showing their true colors this early. Quite humorous, actually.

"No person except a natural born Citizen" ... since he's never been anything but an American, and apparently he was born naturally, he's a natural born citizen. Natural born doesn't mean he had to be in the geographical boundary of the U.S.

I'm a little concerned about your definition of 'natural born' - would that make my first-born, a cesarean baby, not natural born? Will they have to investigate medical records of the mother's or presidential candidates? LOL!

Yes, but he got virtually every judge confirmed that he nominated with a solid GOP Congress for 6 of his 8 years. The President is the mover on judges, not Congress. That’s why we need to have McCain, who has committed to nominating Roberts-like judges, and not Obama nominating.

These folks should know any child born of US citizen parents regardless of where it is, that child has automatic status as a US citizen. This is a non-thread Thread.

My history teacher explained it differently. According to him, the requirement is that the president be born in this country. Even if his parents are citizens, if he is born in another country, he cannot be president. This is a legitimate question. I do not understand why many here get upset over it. It is not the first time this has come up.

Publik skool edumacation?

Seriously, that's pitiful.

The children of citizens of the United States that may be born beyond sea, or outside the limits of the United States, shall be considered as natural-born citizens of the United States. --Naturalization Law of 1790
