Only the headline is posted. You don't suppose the NYT is trying to make sure there is NO republican candidate, do you?

Not to me. His parents were American. What could be more clear than that?

This story has been around before. One would think it was analyzed and dismissed at that point. But I guess not. This is the NYT. They can’t take a hint.

Someone tried to use this claim against George Romney back in 1968. Not USA born.

Huh? Lessee ... Don't know about McCain's mother, but I sorta, kinda recall McCain's father was Naval Academy, an admiral, etc. Presumably a U.S. citizen. What does the Canal Zone have to do with it?
Surely even the NYT isn't that addled.

Wait. If we manage to get rid of McCain, maybe we can still get a decent candidate, assuming the RNC permits it.
I must confess, this is a new one on me. First I ever heard of it.

The Constitution says, “No person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of the President; neither shall any person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained the Age of thirty five years, and been fourteen Years a Resident withing the United States."
If the editors at the NYT could read, they would see he is eligible.
