Temperature Monitors Report Widescale Global Cooling
Daily Tech ^ | Feb 26, 2008 | Michael Asher

Posted on 02/26/2008 2:17:08 PM PST by Islander7

Twelve-month long drop in world temperatures wipes out a century of warming

Over the past year, anecdotal evidence for a cooling planet has exploded. China has its coldest winter in 100 years. Baghdad sees its first snow in all recorded history. North America has the most snowcover in 50 years, with places like Wisconsin the highest since record-keeping began. Record levels of Antarctic sea ice, record cold in Minnesota, Texas, Florida, Mexico, Australia, Iran, Greece, South Africa, Greenland, Argentina, Chile -- the list goes on and on.

No more than anecdotal evidence, to be sure. But now, that evidence has been supplanted by hard scientific fact. All four major global temperature tracking outlets (Hadley, NASA's GISS, UAH, RSS) have released updated data. All show that over the past year, global temperatures have dropped precipitously.

Meteorologist Anthony Watts compiled the results of all the sources. The total amount of cooling ranges from 0.65C up to 0.75C -- a value large enough to erase nearly all the global warming recorded over the past 100 years. All in one year time. For all sources, it's the single fastest temperature change ever recorded, either up or down.

Al Gore chortles “suckers” as he reads the monthly statement from his accountants.

That's a duplicate post. There was one just like it already. Kindly search for identical comments before posting. :)

Maybe Al Gore chortled twice, he might have more than one accountant because he’s made oodles of money with this garbage. ;)

“Climate change leads to changes in the climate.”

WOW. And, I’ll bet changes in the climate leads to Climate change.

Maybe you should email THE TEAM about this. But I don’t think they will understand the concept.

That's why I'm voting for change in Nov 2008.

Remember, it is not “global warming” anymore, it is “climate change.”

I remember when the popular press switched from "climate change" to "global warming" in the 80s.

Oh yeah?

Well, so what?

I’ll bet February will be hotter than January! And now watch - March is going to show even warmer temperatures.

There. See? Global warming is true - because July is gonna be hotter than even March is ....

/sarchasm - that gaping hole between a liberal and the truth.

And it is still GW’s, captialism’s, and conservatives’ fault,

I had *nothing* to do with this.

From NASA’s wensite LAST YEAR: - about the late start of the next solar cycle 24:

http://science.nasa.gov/headlines/y2006/10may_longrange.htm

May 10, 2006: The Sun’s Great Conveyor Belt has slowed to a record-low crawl, according to research by NASA solar physicist David Hathaway. “It’s off the bottom of the charts,” he says. “This has important repercussions for future solar activity.”

see captionThe Great Conveyor Belt is a massive circulating current of fire (hot plasma) within the Sun. It has two branches, north and south, each taking about 40 years to perform one complete circuit. Researchers believe the turning of the belt controls the sunspot cycle, and that’s why the slowdown is important.

Right: The sun’s “Great Conveyor Belt” in profile.

“Normally, the conveyor belt moves about 1 meter per second—walking pace,” says Hathaway. “That’s how it has been since the late 19th century.” In recent years, however, the belt has decelerated to 0.75 m/s in the north and 0.35 m/s in the south. “We’ve never seen speeds so low.”

According to theory and observation, the speed of the belt foretells the intensity of sunspot activity ~20 years in the future. A slow belt means lower solar activity; a fast belt means stronger activity. The reasons for this are explained in the Science@NASA story Solar Storm Warning.

“The slowdown we see now means that Solar Cycle 25, peaking around the year 2022, could be one of the weakest in centuries,” says Hathaway.

I just bought my first SUV this week. I love the big Chevy! I guess GM makes vehicles to save the planet whether it is warming or cooling! Buy the flex-fuel if you think the world is warming or the Gasoline only SUV if you think the world is cooling. Either way GM has got you covered.

LOL I like Chevy. I have a '59 3/4 ton that gets 8 mpg. I'm doing my part to keep us warm. Or I would be if I could afford gasoline.

Hmmmm. My truck has been parked all winter. Coldest winter in 100 years. I'm sorry!!! I didn't know! ;^)
