TOA BAJA, Puerto Rico - Republican Party members in Puerto Rico awarded all 20 delegates at stake Sunday to Arizona Sen. John McCain, who has vowed to help resolve Washington's complicated relationship with the U.S. Caribbean territory.
The delegates each will cast one vote at the Republican National Convention in September, joined by three local members of the Republican National Committee who also have pledged to back McCain as party delegates.
McCain swept all 38 GOP delegates awarded in U.S. territories over the weekend, moving him closer to Republican nomination for president. He also picked up endorsements from two unpledged delegates, giving him a total of 998. His rival, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee trails with 254 delegates.
It will take 1,191 delegates to secure the Republican nomination.

Excellent. He will clinch the nomination “mathematically” by the end of March although by all practice and purposes he is already the nominee.
He will clinch it on March 4th. :)
Huckabee finally has more than romney
Excellent, everything is going according to plan :)
I think some attention should be paid to this bit of pandering, which is presumably in line with his involvement as a sponsor of McCain/Kennedy:

JES symptoms include;
1. Poor math skills.
2. A messianic belief that you’re necessary.
3. Unrealistic exceptions.
4. The delusion that the more voters reject you, the more they are secretly encouraging you.
The only known treatment for JES is a lack of media attention.
Mike Huckabee’s folly sinks a little deeper . . .
Huckabee is just trying to get the next largest heap of delegates as insurance should the ancient Senator succumb to one of his various diseases.
johnmccain.com shows romney with 247 and huckabee with 251 so that is odd.

Are Texas and Ohio winner takes all for the Republicans? If so then yes I agree that he will clinch it by March 4th.
Texas is winner take all by congressional district and statewide proving the winner wins by a majority. Otherwise it is proportional with a 20% threshold.
As we mentioned earlier the Democratic Party does things much differently.
If you read various delegate counts, they are all different, so not sure which one counts “officially”.
I lean towards the NYT list as it only counts PLEDGED delegates (note: they haven’t updated since American Samoa or Puerto Rico, so it will change tomorrow):

McCain 827 (will be 856 with the 9 from AS +20 from PR)
Huckabee 205
Romney 142
Paul 5
I did read that Huckabee has picked up at least 8 of Romney’s delegates from Michigan, but since those can’t be counted until convention, they are not added in...

When asked about his dad’s age, 71, and whether or not it should be an issue with voters, Jack was quick to point out the tremendous health of not his dad, but his grandmother.
“His mother is what, 96? She is very sharp. She travels the world. So as far as genes go, you don’t have to worry about that for at least another 15 or 20 years.”
In further defense of his dad’s health, Jack enjoys telling the story about how he and his dad hiked the Grand Canyon last summer.
“He hiked 30 miles…9 down, 15 across and 6 up in two days. We started out on the North Rim [of the Grand Canyon] and made it to the South Rim. If age is ever an issue [just think of] 30 miles, two days, in 115 degree heat…and carrying a back-pack as well. And my dad doesn’t have any cartilage in his knees.”
One of the most memorable parts of the excursion, especially for a political science major, was being able to listen to his dad talk about “any period in history.”
“…If you start in China and head all the way to the United States, he knows about it. We probably had a four-hour conversation about the Ottoman Turks.”
