I think some attention should be paid to this bit of pandering, which is presumably in line with his involvement as a sponsor of McCain/Kennedy:

“John McCain . . . vowed to help resolve Washington’s complicated relationship with the U.S. Caribbean territory.”

Huckabee’s case of John Edwards syndrome is worse than the one John Edwards had.

JES symptoms include;

1. Poor math skills.

2. A messianic belief that you’re necessary.

3. Unrealistic exceptions.

4. The delusion that the more voters reject you, the more they are secretly encouraging you.

The only known treatment for JES is a lack of media attention.

Puerto Rico & the American Samoa's pick delegates before the 50 states on the flag, it's a day of jubilee!

This is a total fraud.

Certain self-appointed “members” of the PR Republican Party convened a meeting over the heads of the duly established island GOP leadership and declared themselves as the new PR GOP leadership and their delegates. A complaint was raised withe the RNC and they did nothing.

Heck, I could gather a couple of hundred cronies tomorrow, elect ourselves to the leadership of the island GOP and it would have the same effect: nothing.

McCain should reject these delegates. The RNC convention should not count these impostors for anything.

In a letter to Luis Fortuno, Puerto Rico's nonvoting congressional delegate and a superdelegate, McCain pledged to support a process that would enable Puerto Ricans to decide if they want to remain a commonwealth, become a state or an independent nation.

That's nice, but it's not very imaginative. There have been at least three referenda in my lifetime that framed the question in exactly those terms, and in every one a plurality of the vote opted to maintain the status quo. So, basically, McCain bravely pledged to do nothing. It's a safe position.
