Half of state's superdelegates back Clinton By Salena Zito TRIBUNE-REVIEW Tuesday, February 19, 2008
New York Sen. Hillary Clinton has gained commitments from half of Pennsylvania's so-called superdelegates to the Democratic National Convention. A Tribune-Review survey reveals Clinton has endorsements from 13 of the 26 superdelegates, a mix of top elected officials and party operatives. Illinois Sen. Barack Obama has two commitments, and 10 superdelegates are uncommitted. One superdelegate could not be reached. Three more will be selected by Pennsylvania party leaders.
But none of the delegates must vote for their endorsed candidate, one expert cautioned.

In my wildly inexperienced and unimportant opinion, the BEST thing that could happen for the Republicans is for Obama to win the pledged delegates, BUT have the super delegates give Hillary the win. I don’t think it would happen in a million years, but a gal can dream can’t she?
Ed Rendell will guide this process through for Hillary. Mrs. Rendell was placed in an important judgeship by Bill Clinton. There may be another judgeship on the way for Judge Rendell should Hillary win the oval office.
The other half haven’t gotten their orders yet........
I’m not real sure, but a “pledge” of a superdelegate is just words. They can say they support H! all the way to the convention, but when the vote actually counts can switch to vote to Obama in a second. The “pledged” delegates, won on the campaign trail, are only pledged to vote the 1st time for their candidate. After that they are “free agents”................
I agree...I have posted (on alot of threads here) that Fast Eddie has his sights set waaaay beyong Harrisburg and that he WILL deliver delegatre rich PA for the Clintons. I see Rendell vieing for a Cabinet post OR (w/ a Dim House/Senate) a Supreme seat. Yep. PA goes for Hillary (and that is a good thing...because the more infighting at their convention, the better it is for McCain).

By pledged, I meant the ones he “wins” in the primaries states, though, from my understanding, they aren’t obligated to vote for him, despite him winning that state’s primaries anyway.
Either way, it’d be my dream for him to win way more states than her, only to have the SuperDelegates give her the nomination, just to watch the meltdown of the Democrat party. :)
Anyone STILL want to help KKKlinton beat Obama? Crush her now and be done with it.
Question: Is the act of convention voting secret or out in the open?
Look for this quatrain to be found in Nostradamus
Half & half. The last one I saw, the state chair of each delegation, would poll the delegates of his state and count the votes for X & Y, then report them to the convention secretary via voice on the floor.
“Madam Secretary, The Great State of Alabama, home of blah blah blah, and the blah blah football team, reports 24 votes for X and 12 votes for Y!”..............
My guess...the nomination is for Hillary with Obama as VP...giving the greatest possibility of 16 years of Congress and the White House.
That's effectively open. The state chair and the other state delegates know how you vote, so it will eventually get around.
Thanks.
There hasn’t been a voice poll in conventions in decades, since all candidates have locked up the required number long before the conventions. They get to the convention and then the “nomination” is “given” by unanimous acclamation, “yaaaaaay! for us and our side!”..........
That’s not enough. Clinton needs to pickup more like 70-80% of the superdelegates.
Probably about Labor Day.
The problem is that we in Pa don’t vote until the end of April. By that time, it may be all over for the Hildabeast. I hope not. If she’s still viable I’m going to change my party affiliation for the Primary and vote for the Hildabeast!!! I think she will rally the conservative base far better than a contest against Obama.
Thanks for the ping.
Personally, I believe it is best to finally and roundly defeat the Clintons. Other than that, I agree about Rendell.
