Multiple explosions are being reported at a south Texas gas pipeline. Authorities say some people are injured.
How the explosions happened isn't immediately clear.
Authorities are working to cordon off the area and put out a fire.
The explosions were reported near McCook, a town near the U.S. Mexico border.

DISTILLATE OIL A general classification for one of the petroleum fractions produced in conventional distillation operations. It is used primarily for space heating, on-and-off-highway diesel engine fuel (including railroad engine fuel and fuel for agricultural machinery), and electric power generation. Included are products known as No. 1, No. 2, and No. 4 fuel oils; No. 1, No. 2, and No. 4 diesel fuels.
Distillate fuel oil is reported in the following sulfur categories: 0.05% sulfur and under, for use in on-highway diesel engines which could be described as meeting EPA regulations; and greater than 0.05% sulfur, for use in all other distillate applications.

We're told one person suffered minor exposure to the flames. Crews on scene are checking on the unidentified individual.
There was also significant damage to the pavement near the explosion.
Dozens of agencies are on the scene trying to figure out what went wrong. We're told the magnitude of the explosion could make it difficult to find its cause. HESCO Gas has also sent supervisors and crews to the area.

More likely a cable TV company was placing direct bury cable with a vibratory blade or even somebody with a backhoe doing adjacent work and crossed the pipeline Rights of way, nicking the line and lighting it off.
If it had been a major natural gas transmission line it could rip out of the ground like a giant water wiggle for about 100 feet and blowoff sounding like a freight train for about 30 minutes.
Once encountered a dozer operator who didn’t pay attention to the rights of way, nicked a 1600 psi line and it tore all the skin off his body, throwing up into a tree, while it blew off for 30 minutes.
The line described probably came from a local producer or secondary plant prior to liquid petroleum shipping to a transfer station.
Nope, we can rule out terrorism before we even investigate.
This is what is done in all cases. We have to keep people from becoming too alarmed and actually realizing the threat of Islam that we face in the world today.
Could have people do some “un-PC” things otherwise.
I think this pipeline may be for natural gas, not gasoline.
The earlier reports of it being a gas pipeline were apparently a reporter’s guess.
I don’t think that matters, my point which was not well made was that anytime something like this hiccups, gas prices go up and up!
I go for that or illegals.

At 5:26 a.m., mountain daylight time, on Saturday, August 19, 2000, a 30-inch diameter natural gas transmission pipeline operated by El Paso Natural Gas Company ruptured adjacent to the Pecos River near Carlsbad, New Mexico. The released gas ignited and burned for 55 minutes. Twelve persons who were camping under a concrete-decked steel bridge that supported the pipeline across the river were killed and their three vehicles destroyed. Two nearby steel suspension bridges for gas pipelines crossing the river were extensively damaged. According to El Paso Natural Gas Company, property and other damages or losses totaled $998,296.The National Transportation Safety Board determines that the probable cause of the August 19, 2000, natural gas pipeline rupture and subsequent fire near Carlsbad, New Mexico, was a significant reduction in pipe wall thickness due to severe internal corrosion. The severe corrosion had occurred because El Paso Natural Gas Company’s corrosion control program failed to prevent, detect, or control internal corrosion within the company’s pipeline. Contributing to the accident were ineffective Federal pre-accident inspections of El Paso Natural Gas Company that did not identify deficiencies in the company’s internal corrosion control program.
