As Hong Kong shivers through its second-longest cold spell since 1885, scientists point to global warming to explain the abnormal cold weather phenomenon worldwide.
"We are seeing extremely unusual weather across the world," said polar researcher Rebecca Lee Lok-sze.

I'm sorry as I did not mean to offend you personally. However, it wasn't until even recently the "anti's" were even given a platform let alone listened to.
The Left has had an agenda for a long time and they are using Global Warming as the vehicle to change things their way.
Even Kyoto was political. It's been mentioned before on FR but do you know why Kyoto decided to make 1990 the baseline for carbon spewing? If not, poke around.
The climate has been changing for as long as the Earth has been here. And in just the span of a generation we've gone from fear of a new iceage to fear of no ice. And we are just supposed to shutup and listen as "they" know what's best for us.
Yes it is, and summer in the Southern Hemisphere (Antarctica, Australia, etc.).
Haven't heard too much about all that "summer meltoff" in Antarctica this year, have we....
I guess polar bears are cuter (or "cooler") than penguins....
Fine. Then you are sending e-mails and letters to all the media outlets to start printing and airing opposing points of view to GW. In fact you never see those dissenters on any media outlets. Which is why the people on this forum who have been deluged with GW misinformation love to point out the fallacies of the GW promoters that Big Media will not.
Little stick figures running back and forth please.
Just like any economic disturbance is a perfect vehicle for Marxism (say, for instance, the recent hysteria about recession) even though Marxism may have (usually does) cause the economic disturbance. Just apply more Marxist principles and the problem will go away. And if it doesn't, it means that we STILL weren't Marxist enough.
"...and Cooling is Warming"
Cheers!
BWWWWWHAAAAAAA!!
Or to quote R. Heinlein: "He was the kind who'd hit himself in the head with a hammer, because it felt so good when it was over."
Unbelievable?
..believe it. :o)
In other words global warming is about...grants...being given out.
Bingo.
Marked, for detailed comments and corrections later.
Long lost sister.
...of Loctite?
Smoe feel the is a correlation between low solar activity and the appearance of La Nina’s.....If you google solar activity and La Nina you will see numerous articles on the subject. Conversely there are many articles about high solar activity and El Nino’s...

Solar Activity Controls El Niño and La Niña
by
Dr Theodor Landscheidt
Schroeter Institute for Research in Cycles of Solar Activity

Imagine that, the sun can affect the temperature of the earth! We should relay this important scientific discovery to Al Gore.
Makes sense that the suns output heats the oceans more or less and causes the natural cycle of El and La Nino’s. The correlation is pretty solid and the data is easily interpreted.
I suspect the magnetic field of the earth plays the biggest role in all of this. When the Sun is at its peak intensity the field is stretched and thinner which allows more solar radiation to hit the earth. More radiation equals more heat, thereby heating the oceans and releasing more water vapor into the atmosphere (a green house gas).
When the sun is relatively inactive the magnetic field is highly efficient at blocking solar radiation (much like trying to crush a un-cracked egg in your hand). This will naturally allow the earth to cool and the water vapor to settle on earth or evaporate, reducing the green house effect.
Given that CO2 accounts for .01% of the atmosphere it should be clear to everyone carbon credits is a bunch of horse pucky.

-gentlemen, one thing, I do believe?
- Coggy-tator has a Kool-Aid drinking soul-mate.
;^D
Undoubtedly the same employer.
..as well.
Excellent article on that here, with comments by Dr. Peter Corbyn (meteorologist), and Professor Nir Shaviv, (an astrophysicist), and Professor Ian Clark (Department of Earth Science-University of Ottawa):
“In 1991, a senior scientist of the Danish Meteorological Institute has traced back records and graphed temperature and solar activity through the measure of amount of sunspots. And the solar activity showed a strong correlation with temperature where solar activity dropped in 1940 and started rising again in 1970.
Although in this study, they have thought this may be a coincidence, thus further study was done looking back 400 years and the same results have appeared....”
“The theory of cloud formation due to cosmic rays where cosmic rays hit the ocean surface causing much water vapor in the air contributing to the amount of clouds. This brought about another theory where when there were more sunspots, there were less cosmic rays. And with more cosmic rays, there were less sunspots.
Since sunspots give rise to strong burst of electromagnetic waves and solar wind, it is perceived that these solar winds are able to divert cosmic rays which usually come from exploded super nova.”
.
Both.
La Ninas/El Ninos are well-documented phenomena.
So are solar cycles.
You wouldn't think that the sun could make that HUGE of an impact on temperature at all... especially when you look at a size comparison of the planets and sun:
No... I can't see how the sun might cause some heating can you?
Way cool link! Do you mind if I nab it?
That is why I posted it. It is wonderful to see the collective brainpower and research ability of a site like this harnessed to debunk the enviro wacko left wing on the GW issue. Spread the link, spread the word, and help me shovel the 80 inches of snow we have had so far this winter, with another 6-12 coming on sunday in SE wisconsin!
