For the most part, Ron Paul’s constituents have tolerated his more quixotic political views because he’s delivered for the district, now it seems that he might be in trouble:
Troubled by internal polls showing insurgent challenger Chris Peden having pulled ahead shockingly in the Texas 14th congressional district, Congressman Ron Paul will be pulling out of the Republican presidential race in advance of his home state’s March 4 primary, The FDH Lounge blog has learned. This news comes from a source with access to Paul’s congressional campaign and it parallels a recent move on the Democratic side of the White House run as fellow party establishment irritant Dennis Kucinich was forced to abandon his efforts in order to focus on a threat to his congressional seat.

I like Paul being in the house. I hope he wins.
He'd make a lousy President, and fortunately, he has no chance of winning. I hope he keeps his seat in Congress, though.
Paul isn’t a Republican and I hope he gets the boot.
Interesting fellow. I’d like to see Chris Peden on the national scene after reviewing his website. We need to look for Conservative leaders for tomorrow and he surely appears to have a good foundation.
Ron Paul should resign over his racist writings.
Couldn’t happen to a nicer guy.
I hope the door doesn’t hit him on the way out.
Sounds like a good man who has his act together.....unlike that 5150 kook Paul.
Paul is one of those guys, the more you know, the more you wish you didn’t.
Care to make a wager on whether he votes for any New Deal (claims of authority over findings of "substantial effects on interstate commerce") government programs once in office, assuming he gets elected?
You may find this head to head comparison interesting:

chris sounds like my kind of conservative.
Im not running for Congress to make a point, Peden said. Im running for Congress to make a difference.
Overheard in an office where I was visiting yesterday. Three people, two guys and a woman, were sort of arguing about a presentation. One was a bit loud. The woman says to the third guy, be careful, he’ll go RonPaul on you. LOL
It could be true. But even Paul should know that if he loses the primary bid for his House seat, as a third-party candidate he still has no chance for elected office. Such a move would be purely sour grapes on his part. And as such, I wonder just what percentage he'd really draw from Republicans. With his anti-war stance he could draw just as many Democrats/leftists.
Hope Ron Paul makes it. We need him (and those like him) in the House.
As for Chris Peden, I wish him the best of luck in his political career. He seems a bit too big government, nanny state for my liking — but he’s *sounds* far better than many of the RINOs we have.
But again, he doesn’t seem to understand first principles of small government by his cute little comparison chart to Dr. Paul. Too bad for him and us.
If you want to lose the seat to the Rats then Chris Peden is your man. Lot’s of D’s in Pauls district, plus this is going to be a bad year for the GOP. The best hope for keeping the seat GOP is Paul. Remember Nick Lampsom used to represent a large piece of Paul’s district. I will be voting for Paul.

I disagree about the dems, the ones they have running now are very weak and the district is very Conservative. I can see Peden trouncing them.
From the other thread... same applies...
So Chris will "go along to get along" and sell out his principles to "get things done"?
(sarc)Yeah... that'll improve things... (/sarc)
