Folks, there still may be a slim chance to force a deadlocked convention. I'm no election math wizard, but I believe it's still mathematically possible for McCain to NOT receive the requisite number of delegates to win the nomination. But it would require a great turnout of passionate conservative voters in the remaining primary states to accomplish.
The trick would be for all remaining primary conservative voters to vote for their favorite candidate as if he were still in the race. Fred's name is still on the ballot. So is Hunter's and Romney's. Shoot, vote for Huckabee, Paul or even Giuliani if you wish. Anyone but McCain!
None of the others can possibly win, but it's still possible for McCain to lose. Let it go to the convention and force the GOP to publicly fight it out as if its very life depended on it. Because it does.
What do we have to lose? As it stands now, more and more conservatives are declaring their intentions to sit out the general. If McCain is our candidate, looks like Hillary/Obama will be our next president. Don't let it happen. Vote for any GOPer other than McCain!
Fight like you’ve got nothing to lose!...because it’s very likely to be that way anyway! :-)
Tell her that this is the most interesting primary process this country has seen in a generation. Tell her to pay attention and to hold off on making up her mind because anything could happen between now and November. Tell he she should be really excited because we are either going to pull one of the biggest political upsets of all time, or some really bad people are going to mess everything up so bad that in four years we will have another really exciting primary, only in 2012 the GOP will be winning back Congress and the Executive Branch. Tell her how proud she is going to feel 25 years from now when she tells her children about how she participated in the race of 2008.
I believe that is obvious. Both his chipmunk cheeks and his extreme rages are possible side-effects of heavy steroid use. We really don't need his finger on the nucular button.
How about if you write in Hunter Thompson instead? HST was a real commie but I loved his work, especially Fear and Loathing On The Campaign Trail about the 1972 race. A couple of HST quotes apply to this scene: "When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro." And my favorite: "It never gets weird enough for me."
I am with you.
I don’t know who is on the ballot in my state, but it is Fred then Alan Keyes, then Ron Paul, down the list in order of best to worst. McCain will not get my vote now or in November.
It is far better to vote for something, which is what I consider this to be.
My congressman’s office said he will not be endorsing anyone else after Fred dropped out, he had endorsed Fred. He’s a good congressman, every vote I’ve ever checked on he voted the way I would want.
We could also be posting more information on good candidates in local and state races.
The Republicans are going to lose this election. I would rather see Obama win than Hillary. I am sick and tired of the Clintons. It appears like many Dems feel the same way.
As for me, I am writing in my protest vote for Duncan Hunter and start thinking about 2012.
Yeah, you got me. I'm really squirming here. Get a grip.
"Calm down."
At least Jim’s logic is “something”. If we continue on our present path, we’ll most definitely suffer a dimocrap in the Whitehouse. There’s nothing to lose by trying what he suggests. It can’t possibly make things worse.
We cannot produce TRUE leaders, True leaders show themselves.
I didn’t get around to calling my friend today...and she’s certainly in bed by now! I’ll call her tomorrow! I didn’t forget...just had too much to do today, and too little time. I’ll let you know! :-)
Reagan himself wouldn’t have made through today....
When I lived in Alabama, they gave the Democrats white ballots and the Republicans blue ballots for the primary. You had to say out loud which one you wanted, and if you didn’t say it loud enough they made you repeat before you would get a ballot. I never thought that was a secret ballot.
Yes Sir !
GOP is clearly gundecking !
