Primary Voters: Vote against McCain! Vote for deadlock! Vote anyone but McCain!
Feb 9, 2008 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 02/09/2008 11:44:24 AM PST by Jim Robinson

Folks, there still may be a slim chance to force a deadlocked convention. I'm no election math wizard, but I believe it's still mathematically possible for McCain to NOT receive the requisite number of delegates to win the nomination. But it would require a great turnout of passionate conservative voters in the remaining primary states to accomplish.

The trick would be for all remaining primary conservative voters to vote for their favorite candidate as if he were still in the race. Fred's name is still on the ballot. So is Hunter's and Romney's. Shoot, vote for Huckabee, Paul or even Giuliani if you wish. Anyone but McCain!

None of the others can possibly win, but it's still possible for McCain to lose. Let it go to the convention and force the GOP to publicly fight it out as if its very life depended on it. Because it does.

What do we have to lose? As it stands now, more and more conservatives are declaring their intentions to sit out the general. If McCain is our candidate, looks like Hillary/Obama will be our next president. Don't let it happen. Vote for any GOPer other than McCain!

Ain’t my website, but I think that Clint Eastwood is right, you all are masochists.

Then go to DU. Maybe you would be happier there.

Yes, she would. But she would be more difficult for Congress to rein in. Obama is an empty suit. Some of our Senators could easily (man)handle him.

A Republican president with a Democratic congress is better than a Democratic president with a Democratic congress.

But your reasoning makes no sense. Why vote for someone if they don’t represent you or share your views? Isn’t that what political choice is all about? By your logic, it doesn’t matter what the candidate stands for, as long as he has an R by his name or is slightly less evil than the Dem. What’s the point of even bothering to vote if your only choices are candidates with whom you disagree?

Jim, that is a terrific idea, and one would think that there is enough conservative discontent with McInsane to make it happen.

As for what happens at the convention?

I'd like to see this outstanding Marine be drafted, he could do for the GOP what Ike did in '52:

[Excerpted retirement remarks made by General Peter Pace, former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, late last year, he is everything America needs in a President, and he "gets it" on the War on Terror and what America must do in the world.]

Quite frankly, everyone in the GOP field was flawed.

Duncan Hunter was the best candidate philosophically, but he never had to campaign for more than a congressional district before, and it showed.

Fred was solid on conservatism, but I think too many women were put off by him having such a young wife, and he never really exuded much vitality.

Huckabee ain't ready for prime time, and is problematic on taxes and spending.

Mitt? Never shook the perception that he would say anything to get elected.

Rudy? Don't make me laugh.

And McCain's warts are well-known.

We needed a solid conservative GOP governor in this race with some charisma and standing. It didn't happen. McCain won mainly because the GOP tends to select the guy who finished 2nd the last time around. It's just that fundamental. So now we all face the usual conundrum - vote for McCain with all his baggage, or turn the White House over to the Dems like what happened 16 years ago.

In 1992, we didn't have a war going. Letting Slick in the back door with 42 percent of the vote didn't carry the obvious national security ramifications that we are facing today. However, turning the White House over to the Clintons led directly to the war we are now in. Clinton's failure to respond to the first WTC attack and subsequent provocations by al Qaeda led directly to 9-11. Do we really want that again, and worse?

I understand why so many people say they can't vote for McCain. But I see no other alternative at this point. Al Qaeda is on the ropes. McCain would fight to finish them off. Hillary and Obama would let them recover and grow even stronger and more dangerous. So the next GOP president would face national security threats much more grave than those Bush inherited from Clinton. Sorry, I cannot go along with teaching the GOP a lesson when the costs would be so high.

I was waiting on your marching orders. I hope that people take note of it and do something about it. McCain is a disgrace to the word Conservative.

The media does have a lot of responsibility here too. People saw and heard about who the media decided on.

If McCain gets the nomination, my guess is that the Democrats will exploit his temper.

The press has already begun that.

Romney offers Democrats McCain playbook

The reporter tries to make it sound like Romney did this but that's just a cover.

Have you heard Jindal? I have, many times. He may be right on the issues, but, very much unlike Reagan, he also mumbles very quickly and has zero sense of humor and no personality.

Thats a positive note.. an extreme longshot but positive..

I wonder how many registered republicans will vote for Hillary because shes a woman.. or will enact Universal Health Care or both.. or for Obama because hes black more or less.. You know the affirmative action President.. Affirmative action on crack..

True its time to start planning how to hijack the republican convention.. or if not hijack then derail it.. Because it appears the republican train is running wild.. or has a democrat engineer passed out drunk...

What choice do we have? It’s down to a liberal from our (!) side or a liberal from theirs, but 2 liberals is what it’s shaping up to be now. How can we NOT vote liberal?
