Romney out. Congratulations Freepers on ensuring there was no conservative in the race. (Vanity)

Posted on 02/07/2008 9:51:12 AM PST by mbraynard

You rallied behind someone who never had their heart in the race and was never a leader in their life (Thompson) or never had a chance in hell (Hunter). What is needed more than anything to win the WH is a drive to do the spade work necessary to get there. So by denying Romney victory in IA and NH and SC, and splitting the field, you now have probably the worst enemy of all - someone the Wonderful Mr. Jim Robinson never saw fit to put a 'truth file' on.

So, nice work.

I’ll have to give him more consideration then. I honestly don’t trust him and my Dad couldn’t stand him back in the 90s and he died in 99.

I do agree with you that hillary or obama (but it will be hillary) is not an option for CIC. At the same time, I don’t think it really matters since I truly believe Hillary is the next POTUS. Guess we’ll see what happens the next few months.

Fred was never in the race....I really don’t think he ever had any intention of winning....sometimes I feel he was just in there as a favor to McCain to split the conservative vote....I agree with the orinial poster.
***Interesting perspective, one that will certainly heat up your seat for you. Although it’s a temptation for me to agree with you, I don’t think most candidates enter such a race without intending to win — they always hope to win. (Of course, that doesn’t apply to the Ralph Naders and symbolic candidates who are trying to make some kind of point.) But, they may stay in longer out of a sense of strategy, i.e. they might angle for a VP slot or somesuch thing. If Hunter had stayed in past Super Tuesday, we might have seen a conservative coalescence around him, but we’ll never know.

Same here. Had a blast and learned some stuff too :)

sometimes I feel like the dumbest person ever even with my two master degrees, heh, one in history. I learn so much here. But mostly, it’s all about having fun/entertainment imo. If we can’t have fun then we’re really screwed and not in the good way. Nite.

***Well, that’s at least a good point. I imagine there will be a McCainiack truth file soon enough, and it will be so full within 1 week that no one will be able to read through it all.

It’s their vote. They can award to whomever they want.

Got it?

You're most assuredly bright. Stupid people rarely grasp engineering humor. That's why stupid people don't read Scott Adams - my hero or Gary Larsen - my backup, retired hero.

The majority of my fellow Americans are, sadly, stupid- which is why we are now faced with the McCain/huck/obama/hitlery disaster presidency. I look forward to helping out with your Freeper education and won't regret it.

“Mitt, and you MittWits, should have been smart enough to know from the Git-Go that the Mormon thing would be too steep of a hill for the base to climb.”

You know, this about sums it up. So much of the Romney hatred was based on the above mentioned Mormon bigotry by too many of the Evangelicals. So religiously small minds did Romney in, more than anything else. The flip flopper charges were just cover for this religious bigotry. McCain and the Huckster have flip flopped just as much if not more, but that wasn’t the issue really, was it? It was because Mitt was a Mormon. Ok, let the denials fly, but anyone with half a brain knows the real truth. I might add, the whole base is not Evangelical, so don’t try to speak for all of them. You just keep on speaking for the religiously bigoted ones among the base, but not the rest of us.

Respectfully, you are confused. Looking at beautiful women does not lead to abortion. Having sex with women leads to abortion, sometimes. I look at beautiful women all the time and don't feel a compulsion to have sex with them, let alone with any woman who would consider an abortion. To make my point here's Ursula who I think is beautiful, but have never had sex with:

What does that mean men like you can only feel your self-worth in others misfortune, instead of from God?

Mitt is conservative? Who knew?

It is pretty obvious that the opposition of some prominent so-called conservatives to McCain is personal and not based on conservatism because Mitt is less conservative than McCain.

From Howie Carr's column today:

You’re Mitt Romney, and you know you’re having a bad year when a $150,000-a-year aide to Deval Patrick is accused of raping a boy in Florida, and the way the story gets played on the right-wing Web sites is that when you were governor you issued the justice-of-the-peace license to Jarrett Barrios so he could “marry” the accused rapist and his Brahmin boytoy.

This is the first I heard about Romney's connection.

I don’t claim to be pious, but I’m not a bad boy either. I’m a sinner, just like everybody else. I’m conservative and my point is that piety and conservatism can coexist. It’s Restornu who implies only the pious, pure and sin-free are real conservatives. He basically called a conservative Freeper who posted a picture of a beautiful woman a hypocrite and abortion-enabler. You’ll have to go back to the posted picture that started this sub-thread.

Don’t feel bad mbraynardn there are lessons to be learn here, those who revel in others misfortune will too have to live the next 4 years as we will all have time to ponder “what awful situation we are in,” because of so many who were short sighted!

In the mean time our conscience will be clear for we did not try to undermind their man in such a demonic ways as they have.

I say what I feel and observed and continue try to understand this kind of behavior from fellow citizens who say they want something yet are so contrary to the Lord ways and wonder why what they want is taken way from them.

Maybe one day it will dawn on them what they think is feeling their oats of knocking another out of the box realized they have also allowed themselves to be deny what they too wanted.

You know, I was smart, but not like most would asusme. I went to college from an area (inner city philly) where most didn’t attend college. And quite honestly, I loved learning/attending school but all I ever wanted to do was have babies and be a stay at home mom. It’s why I taught or sub teach now. Don’t get me wrong I love teaching but again, if I didn’t have to work I wouldn’t. It works with my kids schedules. I’ve heard so much crap about how I wasted my education (but according to my late Dad, just get that piece of paper(college degree), and heh, the two additional grad ones, just in case, and he was right).

I have to send you the article written in the Daily Collegian (Penn State’s newspaper) about engineers, and this was back in the late 80s. I’ll figureout how to scan it. I was a college freshman at the time. I have it saved in my college scrapbook. You know, the whole engineers are robots (as men) type of stuff. It was such a slam on engineer majors, by a female writer of course, but you have to read this piece. I didn’t know an engineer at the time but after that article, I wanted to meet one, and did, lol. I’m sure it wasn’t the intent of the author but imo the author was crazy.

I’m not an engineer type but I’m thrilled my teens are. Basically, small appliances hate me, major appliances hate me (I hate both of those too) and the computer is satan, lol. Seriously, I’m an idiot when it comes to this type of stuff, it’s ok, what am I supposed to click, press, type, it’s not working, fix it, type of thing. Just fix the damn thing. However, I have tremendous respect for engineers and all tech people. I have no idea what they do or how they do but I’m happy they do.

But, I can tell you anything you want to know about history, US history, World history, European history, Islam (especially), etc.
