You know, I was smart, but not like most would asusme. I went to college from an area (inner city philly) where most didn’t attend college. And quite honestly, I loved learning/attending school but all I ever wanted to do was have babies and be a stay at home mom. It’s why I taught or sub teach now. Don’t get me wrong I love teaching but again, if I didn’t have to work I wouldn’t. It works with my kids schedules. I’ve heard so much crap about how I wasted my education (but according to my late Dad, just get that piece of paper(college degree), and heh, the two additional grad ones, just in case, and he was right).

I have to send you the article written in the Daily Collegian (Penn State’s newspaper) about engineers, and this was back in the late 80s. I’ll figureout how to scan it. I was a college freshman at the time. I have it saved in my college scrapbook. You know, the whole engineers are robots (as men) type of stuff. It was such a slam on engineer majors, by a female writer of course, but you have to read this piece. I didn’t know an engineer at the time but after that article, I wanted to meet one, and did, lol. I’m sure it wasn’t the intent of the author but imo the author was crazy.

I’m not an engineer type but I’m thrilled my teens are. Basically, small appliances hate me, major appliances hate me (I hate both of those too) and the computer is satan, lol. Seriously, I’m an idiot when it comes to this type of stuff, it’s ok, what am I supposed to click, press, type, it’s not working, fix it, type of thing. Just fix the damn thing. However, I have tremendous respect for engineers and all tech people. I have no idea what they do or how they do but I’m happy they do.

But, I can tell you anything you want to know about history, US history, World history, European history, Islam (especially), etc.

There are 75 engineers where I work. 1/4 of them would fit the poindexter with pocket protector stereotype. I'm in the 1/4 at the opposite end. I played football and baseball in high school. I played in an adult hockey league until a neck injury ended that.

Engineering is a job to me not an obsession. Computers are tools not something I enjoy tinkering with. I enjoy designimg electronics because I like knowing my products are in all, but a handful of third world countries and my designs save lives. 90% of my work is drudgery, but the other 10% makes it worth it. I respect your choice to be a mom. There is no greater calling for a woman in my opinion. This is one of those things my wife disagrees strongly with me on. She revealed to me, after we married, that she had voluntarily undergone sterilization because she didn't want to interrupt her career with kids.

‘...Islam (especially),’

Now that can come in quite handy!
