Romney out. Congratulations Freepers on ensuring there was no conservative in the race. (Vanity)

Posted on 02/07/2008 9:51:12 AM PST by mbraynard

You rallied behind someone who never had their heart in the race and was never a leader in their life (Thompson) or never had a chance in hell (Hunter). What is needed more than anything to win the WH is a drive to do the spade work necessary to get there. So by denying Romney victory in IA and NH and SC, and splitting the field, you now have probably the worst enemy of all - someone the Wonderful Mr. Jim Robinson never saw fit to put a 'truth file' on.

So, nice work.

Bovine scat. Romney is a perfumed prince of privilege. A phony flip flopping empty suit. He’s no more conservative than John McCain, Hillary or Hussein. He is a RINO who became a conservative of convenience. But he could never mask the stench of his liberalism. Good riddance, I say.

I don’t know. Maybe those guys have some kind of an understanding. Maybe they know, the way everyone else does, that going into the election with Conservatives all over the map and disgusted was not the recipe for a win.

Maybe in the end, it’s better that WHOEVER goes into the last stretch should have a stronger hand than if everybody waltzes up to the podium at the convention, creating discord and ill will and then having to mend fences and regroup quickly right after. This way, there’s time and space for all the wrinkles to work themselves out. Not a great scenario... but better than a fractured party and disgusted bunch of Conservative voters on election day. In any case there’s time for everyone to get things into perspective. Too bad it has to be like that.

So where do we go from here besides withdrawing from the GOP??

I am not a registered Republican and haven't been for years. I always vote conservative, which means sitting out some races. I have never voted for a 'rat and never will.

So it's Jim's fault for not putting up a truth file on McCain? What, is your fingers broken that you couldn't do a FR search and find it yourself...It was here in 2000...

And another thing...When did Rommney become a conservative?

Romney is a light-weight ninny....

Most Freepers realized this when Fred was still in the race. But once he dropped out Mitt miraculously morphed into a "Reagan conservative" who could "save the party" in less than a week. It's interesting how desperation warps the brain.

I agree. Free Republic has been moronic and ugly during this
primary campaign. For the first time since I joined I have really despised most of the posts...and the anti-Romney posts were the most childish and odious.

Welcome to our side of the fence. Now you know how Thompson/Hunter supporters felt/feel after they dropped out.

I suspect there will be a lot more “look what you did” posts as the day wears on and Romney’s pull out becomes official.

“We” didn’t do anything. All you who supported Romney who think it’s somehow OUR fault that we’re stuck with McCain/Huckabee should look at yourselves. We’ve said it constantly and I’ll repeat it again now: Do you really think true conservatives were going to get behind a flip-flopper any more than we were going to get behind McCain or the Huckster?

You all should’ve realized this early on, instead of supporting a guy that looked good in ads and has a handsome looking family. Instead of doing that, you should’ve been with US, supporting REAL conservatives. So don’t look to us for the explanation for Romney’s failure; Romney never really HAD a chance.

So don’t try to pawn off that blame on me and others that supported a real conservative from the beginning. It was the constant hijacking of the Thompson/Hunter threads by the Romney fans that brought us ALL to where we are today. (that is, the spectacle that played out here on FR was just a microcosm of the ridiculousness in the “real” world. Romney fans couldn’t accept that REAL conservatives wanted a REAL conservative anywhere, be it on FR, or in the actual reality of the primaries. This REAL division is what’s to blame, NOT supporting a real conservative from the beginning)

So thanks. For nothing. Or perhaps I should say, “Thanks, for being a true divider”.

Regardless, a post like that one without a single reply begs to be called an act of cowardice in my book. What bull.

I was mistaken. It was not an opus. The poster deserted this thread and has posted elsewhere twice. That makes the poster a HARDHEAD-----Hit And Run Dummy Has Entered, Antagonized, Departed.

ZOT is a little harsher than that. ZOT is when the poster or commenter has their account suspended and they are banned from posting under that screen name, yea verily, even unto eternity. Sometimes they resurrect under a new name (a retread troll) but get banned again.

“His brave and selfless military service”

Are you referring to when he launched a missile from his docked plane on the deck of the Forrestal?? Cause everyone in the Navy watches that video and knows about it... every sailor is a firefighter because of that incident.

The truth of the matter is, there wasn’t one candidate who united the party. Thompson, Guilliani, Romney, none of them united the party for various reasons. Conservatism isn’t dead, there just wasn’t a strong standard-bearer. The Freerepublic or Rush Limbaugh aren’t to blame.
