Welcome to our side of the fence. Now you know how Thompson/Hunter supporters felt/feel after they dropped out.

I suspect there will be a lot more “look what you did” posts as the day wears on and Romney’s pull out becomes official.

“We” didn’t do anything. All you who supported Romney who think it’s somehow OUR fault that we’re stuck with McCain/Huckabee should look at yourselves. We’ve said it constantly and I’ll repeat it again now: Do you really think true conservatives were going to get behind a flip-flopper any more than we were going to get behind McCain or the Huckster?

You all should’ve realized this early on, instead of supporting a guy that looked good in ads and has a handsome looking family. Instead of doing that, you should’ve been with US, supporting REAL conservatives. So don’t look to us for the explanation for Romney’s failure; Romney never really HAD a chance.

So don’t try to pawn off that blame on me and others that supported a real conservative from the beginning. It was the constant hijacking of the Thompson/Hunter threads by the Romney fans that brought us ALL to where we are today. (that is, the spectacle that played out here on FR was just a microcosm of the ridiculousness in the “real” world. Romney fans couldn’t accept that REAL conservatives wanted a REAL conservative anywhere, be it on FR, or in the actual reality of the primaries. This REAL division is what’s to blame, NOT supporting a real conservative from the beginning)

So thanks. For nothing. Or perhaps I should say, “Thanks, for being a true divider”.

The truth of the matter is, there wasn’t one candidate who united the party. Thompson, Guilliani, Romney, none of them united the party for various reasons. Conservatism isn’t dead, there just wasn’t a strong standard-bearer. The Freerepublic or Rush Limbaugh aren’t to blame.

You nailed it correctly!!!

According to some so called Republicans and conservatives, especially the founder of this thread... they tell us “Thank you for your participation in the presidential selection process, however your voice nor you vote are no longer welcome”.

Who messed it up for who is my question???

Our country will survive whatever this cycle brings us. It is inevitable that the GOP is going to lose this time anyhow. The party has been set up for failure for the past 6 years. The congressional election in 2006 should be pretty much obvious the refutiation of the GOP by the people it abandoned.
So putting McCain up there will not be a loss overall. He may just mercifully retire.
