My Bet

Posted on 02/05/2008 7:03:33 PM PST by maui_hawaii

If I was a betting man, I would put my money on the following scenario:

McCain is not popular among conservatives. No no. Not at all.

He has the moderate to liberal vote wrapped up.

Huckabee on the other hand has the evangelical vote sheerly because of which church he goes to.

Depending on how the rest of this plays out...when Huck and McCain together have enough delegates combined to put McCain over the top, Huck drops out.

Huck then becomes VP nominee thus giving the McCain ticket an inroad to pro life people and evangelicals.

Any takers for this bet?

I think it’s a real possibility, especially after the WVa deal

You may be correct, but they will have alienated so many of the base that they will lose big time in the general.

A lot of people think that way. However the Huckster will be no help to McQueeg as his VP. I think there will be another payoff of some sort.

Nope.

I won't vote for either of them, nor anyone else still in the race.

The GOP has screwed the pooch; augured in; bit the bullet; committed hari kari...

It has already been stated tonight that Huckabee is an unlikely VP pick because it would be placing two liberals on the GOP ballot. It would be an even bigger disaster for the GOP than is already being created by starting with McCain as the presidential candidate.

My bet is “leftist” politics wins big on November 4.

I think that’s what Huckabee is hoping for.

I’m not taking. It seems obvious to me that Huck has been trolling to be McCain’s VP for quite awhile. I am disappointed in the “evangelicals.”

I think the deal was made a while back. Huckabee has been sniping at Romney for some time and leaving McCain alone.

I’ll bet that the McCainiac will choose a VP that’ll surprise us, in the sense that it’ll be someone obscure. Pols have a like for picking someone that people usually think: What? Who the h***s he?

The only thing worse than McCain winning the nomination this year would be positioning Huckabee to be the next nominee. A McCain Huckabee ticket is not good for the GOP or conservatives, short term or long term.

IMO that’s the scheme of Huck and John. If they are the GOP ticket I hope for third ticket Romney/Thompson or even Thompson/Romney. That would be more conservative than McHuck.

No... either McCain or Huck will betray the other. They will not work together, no matter what they have “agreed to” prior to this point.

Whatever happens, the democrats will clean our clocks this November.

I'm afraid we're looking at Clinton or Obama as our next President.

Nope. You got it right. Here is the rub.

Huck will be history. McNut will win the nomination. In no way, and it would not matter who he selected as VP, he will not win in November.

Hitlery will win the nomination. The Democratic machine will bury McNut. She will be the next President.

Put this in the bank, it will happen.

And that would be correct. Besides, Huckabee indicated in some recent TV interview that he’d be interested in a cabinet position as Secretary of Health & Human Services. Woohoo! Then he could ban cigarette smoking nationwide! And, close down that eviiiil McDonalds!
