SIMI VALLEY, Calif. - Rudy Giuliani dropped out of the Republican presidential campaign on Wednesday and endorsed Sen. John McCain for the nomination.
Giuliani made the announcement at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library a day after suffering a debilitating defeat in Tuesday's Florida primary.
With McCain at his side, Giuliani said the nation needed "someone who can be trusted in times of crisis."
"Obviously I thought I was that person," the former New York mayor said. "The voters made another choice."
He noted that he and McCain had managed to compete without running negative ads against each other and said, "We will remain friends." He said he would campaign for McCain as much as the Arizona senator wanted.
Once the Republican front-runner, Giuliani finished a distant third to McCain and second-place finisher Mitt Romney. After the results, Republican officials had said Giuliani would endorse McCain, who also picked up an endorsement Wednesday from California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger.
The officials spoke on condition of anonymity in advance of the public announcement.

Because the MSM truly isn’t attacking McCain yet. By November 4, everybody will truly know the calibur of negative attacks the MSM will continuously do against McCain, and the Democrats at every political level will truly end up winning big on November 4 because of it.
I didn’t say that, but he probably will. He will almost certainly be the Republican nominee now. All the road blocks for him have been removed. The only way that could change would be for Huckabee to drop out now, and endorse Romney. If Huckabee stay in through next Tuesday, Romney is toast.
WHEN that happens it will be the mccain express on the MSM.
Actually, Dole probably would have a better chance. I can’t stand any of the choices.
I know that conservatives are looked down at by the majority here, but I don’t see “republican” in Jim’s mission statement.

Quite correct, (even though the grammar & spelling leave something to be desired):
Ebola is worse than McCain.
AIDS is worse than McCain.
Being run over by a train is worse than McCain. (although at least it would be a quicker death.)
Being a Hassidic Jew discovered in the middle of a madrassa is worse than McCain.
Hmm, now that I think about it... Most of the things that are "worst" than McCain at least offer the likelihood of a quick death, so they may not be in the long run, worse.

I don’t quite understand the endorsement of McCain. They agreed on practically nothing.
Rudy doesn’t want to close Guantanamo. He’s not a global warming nutcase. He favored tax cuts, even new ones.
They even disagreed on right to life issues.
I don’t get it.
Rudy’s supporters will not automatically endorse McCain.
LOL and you think the MSM wouldnt have a FIELD DAY with Romney or whoever? MSM loves Mccain - they would LOVE to get him elected because people like FR hate him. So if Hillary wins they are happy, if Mccain wins they are happy because according to “the base” he isnt really a republican.
I did not. Did one of McCain’s wives get in trouble for shoplifting? I some how remember something to that effect.
I haven’t listened to him or watched him in well over a year.
I am also having hard time right now listening to Michael Medved and Hugh Hewitt, both of whom I have liked for a long time. Hopefully once this election has come and gone the talk show hosts will get back to the kind of things that have made them the backbone of the conservative movement for the last few years.
I am doing the best I can to take all of this in, but with so many months left to go I might be forced to simply drop out until after the election. I don’t honestly feel as though I can add much to anyone’s campaign. I tapped myself out with a couple of contributions to FredT and I’m just not that impressed with any of those left on the playing field.
I seem to be the kiss of death for a candidate. I really liked Newt then he self-destructed in that farce of a debate with Gore. I supported and really was interested in FredT, but his campaign just seemed to sit there and sog, sorta like my mini-wheats when I don’t eat them quick enough. I moved to Rudy thinking at least we’d have someone with some fire in his belly who would give them what-for if necessary. He put all his eggs in one basket and when that didn’t work he endorsed the one of the bunch that I have the least use for.
What’s a guy to do? I can only take so much abuse and I’ve had my share for this election.
I fear my only route to sanity now is to drop out and pick up again after the election.

I bet that Mitt Romney would have loved to have had Rudy Giuliani's 15% of the Florida vote last night to add to his total.
