Dog leash goths 'hounded off bus'

A goth who leads his girlfriend around with a dog lead and collar was stopped from getting on a bus amid fears for passenger safety, a bus firm confirmed. Dani Graves, 25, and his fiancee Tasha Maltby, 19, of Dewsbury, West Yorks, claim they have been discriminated against by bus firm Arriva Yorkshire.

The black-clad couple said they had been told to leave one bus and prevented from boarding another.

The bus firm said safety came first, but it was investigating the complaint.

Bus operator Arriva claimed other passengers could be put at risk if the bus braked sharply.

Operations director for Arriva Yorkshire, Paul Adcock, said: "Arriva takes any allegation of discrimination very seriously and have interviewed the driver regarding Mr Graves' claims.

"Our primary concern is passenger safety and while the couple are very welcome to travel on our buses, we are asking that Miss Maltby remove her dog lead before boarding the bus.

"It could be dangerous for the couple and other passengers if a driver had to brake sharply while Miss Maltby was wearing the lead."

The company said it was writing to Mr Graves "to apologise for any distress caused by the way this matter was handled".

>> goth wants to be left alone, <<

Oh, yeah... they’re not looking for attention. (/sarc) Believe me, I’ve known Goths, most are the worst “attention whores” you could ever imagine. (that’s their slang, btw.)

that’s because they’re emo, masquerade players or mansonites.
true goths want to be left alone.

Goths are more attitude and dress (external)
Emos are more emotion and reflexion (internal)

That's also been my observation. Emos tend to be similar personality-wise. Goths you never know what you have. I once met a girl at a coffee shop frequented by Christians. She was all gothed up (and she had a good enough fashion sense to make it look cool too). Turns she's a devoted Christian. Really nice girl.

Great album. Can’t believe it was released over 20 years ago.

“Look up Violet Wand”
Man! I’ve got one of those! Found it at an antique store 25 years ago. Always been interested in neon, and it was too strange to pass up. Quack medicine thingie. I did once frighten an old girlfriend with it though!

Actually, one of my favorite people when I lived on Cape Cod was a young woman who happened to be a Goth.

She worked nights in a convenience store and one night some idiot decided he'd rob her.

She was just a little bit of a thing, but that didn't stop her from grabbing the baseball bat out from behind the counter, beating the perp senseless and then dragging him out into the parking lot until the police arrived.

She was a G. Gordon Liddy fan back in those days, too.

She came to a tragic end, dying in a game of Russian Roulette that she was playing with her boyfriend.

I really liked that girl, she had attitude and an independent spirit.

But you gotta admit, the dog collar thing is just too good to pass up.

“Which reminds me, what’s the difference between goth and emo?”

When you’re goth, you cut yourself.

When you’re emo, your lawn cut’s it’s self.

Looks like their mommy didn’t give enough hugs.

Nope, this is the result of a Daddy not showing his daughter enough attention and love.

She'll go looking elsewhere for it, men. Be it the kid with the baggy pants, or the Alice Cooper look-alike 2nd runner up.

A very good friend and former dance partner is totally goth and a Christian. And yes, the attire can be gorgeous or tacky. She leans towards the gorgeous.

Since this is borderline “sexual lifestyle”, anything must be tolerated.

If it didn’t have a fringe sexual component, yes, the left would be all over it.

Miss Maltby said she came up with the idea to wear a dog lead, and said previous boyfriends had called her a "weirdo" when she suggested it.

The couple said they "loved each other to pieces" and the use of the lead was a "sign of trust".

Mr Graves said: "She's very animal like, she's kind of like a pet, as well as a partner."

He said he "does everything" for his girlfriend, including laying out clothes for her, feeding her and cleaning their house.

He said: "You wouldn't expect your cat or dog to do the washing up or cleaning round the house."

I have so many comments that I don't know which one to make.

I kinda thought that too...

I also thought, this young lady COULD be attractive, and it’s too bad her family life wasn’t sufficient to teach her that this is degrading behavior and shouldn’t be tolerated.

What do people like this do for a living.....computer programmers maybe? Perhaps accountants....yes, I’m sure it is something like that.

I've seen them do pretty much everything other people do, nurse, business owner, programmer, musician, menial or service jobs, etc. I knew a couple who were actually pretty rich, with a habit of collecting high-priced sports cars and racing them.
