Dear fellow Fredheads,
It's time to support Mitt Romney. Can Mitt win in a general election? I don't know. Certainly he has always had a better chance than Fred. And if the opposition is Hillary Clinton, then maybe.
McCain can beat Hillary. But McCain is, well, McCain.
To be honest, I'm not as down on McCain as most of my fellow Jawas and you, the readers. But that's just because I've been a one-issue guy since right around, oh, let me see, I think the date was 9/11/2001.
But still, McCain doesn't get that the border is tied in with our national security.
Mitt does. And he seems to get the war on political Islam.
Sure, Rudy also seems to get both, but it's probably too little too late for him.
I'm hearing some oddball theory that a lot of Fredheads are natural Huckabee supporters. That's insane. Like, certifiably insane.
It's built on the presumption that the evangelical supporters of Thompson are in the same boat as the evangelical supporters of Huckabee. I got news for Tom Edsell: they aint the same animal. Sure, they may have the same funny accent, and so I'm guessing that to an outsider like Edsell the presumption is that they must be the same species. But they're not.

So did McCain, yet many say he’s a ‘true’ prolifer and Romney is not.
“He supported amnesty before he was against it.”
He never supported amnesty nor the McCain-Kennedy bill nor the Z visa. He immediately opposed amnesty when the bill came out and has been consistently against a ‘special path to citizenship’.
“I have utterly no idea what Romney stands for, other than he wants to be president.”

In the Introduction of the document, Governor Romney lists some fundamental principles he would use to guide his decisions as President to meet the challenges facing our country:

The candidate who wouldn’t put on the fireman’s hat that was offered him is no longer in the race.
Romney connects with the voters, in ways that seem odd, but somehow work. Who would have thought some 60-year-old white guy in a suit badly singing “who let the dogs out” would actually get a warm reception at an MLK rally?
If I have a choice between a man who will do what it takes to get a vote, and a man who will do nothing to get a vote, I chose the guy who works for the votes, because the guy who doesn’t can’t get any votes and is out of the race.
How does someone(fredheads) go from viciously trashing Mitt Romney months on end to supporting him in a matter of one day? I’m sure that Romney will take it, but to me that seems awfully fickle.
Because you don’t respect his decision to drop out of the race? If you want to prove the Reagan revolution isn’t over, write in Ronald Reagan.
His performance was not inspiring, but the crowd was hardly “unenthusiastic”.
It is called evolution and it is exactly what transpired with Reagan....only to a much greater degree with him.

I watched it, and I’ll tell you that the anti-mitt descriptions were false. But to prove that is the case, I’m recommending you go see the video. I wouldn’t do that if I thought you’d be repulsed by it.

The vast number of Fredheads were in fact Fredheads, but also were classy in their own right in that they could say "I like this guy because" without relying on the bar room brawl tactics.
The minority of Fredheads were the ones bashing. The rest cheered their guy on but were at least cordial about it.
Reagan's conversion did not coincide with a run for a different office.

Mitt has no core values that I can see from his political history. They change and adapt for the particular seat he is seeking.
My wife saw it, and she ain't a chronic Mitt booster like you, so I give her a bit more creedence. She was howling about how stupid Mitt looked as he YET AGAIN pandered to anyone he thought might vote for him.

I would liken this to render unto Caesar (who was a pagan)the things of Caesar and render unto God the things of God. A perfect analogy being the US (Roosevelt) and Britain (Churchill) having to make an alliance with the evil Soviet Union (Stalin)during the Second World War to deal with the greater evil of the Tripartite Axis (Hitler, Mussolini and Tojo). Not desirable to them but necessary for Western survival. But we’ll have to see.
