Does anyone still think that we the people have any real influence on the self-serving interests of our own Federal government? If you believe so, please don't bother to read further.

You need not be a political junkie to see that every time Congress is in session, it takes away more and more of your inherent rights with their socialist programs. I'm not going to preach to this choir, because I know the readers of this forum are probably THE most politically and socially astute persons on the Internet.

But I do have one question for you beyond the rhetoric that the candidates espouse:
What is their stand on "illegal immigration", and what is their stand on legal immigration?

Yes, I realize they are two separate issues but within the larger concept of the direction our Nation is taking, we must consider the numbers of legal immigrants allowed in. We can't be open to the entire world if we are to maintain our hard-earned standard of living.

Illegal immigrants have no standing; they should be deported if we had the resources. While most are good upstanding contributors, their culture also brings in to our homeland much murder, rape, theft, child abuse, drugs , gangwarfare, et al.

They flood our prisons; they flood our emergency rooms to the point of closing; they suck more of your tax dollars through "anchor babies" with food-stamps, welfare, and other social services. They depress property values; they build ghettoes. They build hate and distrust.

Here in the Los Angeles area of Southern Calif, "illegals" eat a huge part of the budget. Even the liberal Los Anglese Times has admitted the negative effect.

From what I read, it is happening more and more around Middle-America. We tried to warn you...but that's another story.

So what are we to to about the MASSIVE influx of foreign cultures that can't work along side our own and take your jobs at a slave rate makes you have to doubleup on work for your with family?

What are we to do about 25% of Hispanic prisoners in our jails? What are to do with the same Mexicans who every day kill our citizens on our highways and rape and murder our women and children? Don't believe me - got stats.

We may not be able to stop every drunken Mexican crashing into and killing an American family on the road, much like we can't stop every stupid US citizen, but at least that citizen had a right to be here in the first place. Like we need MORE criminals.

Here are my solutions:

Federal: The NAFTA agreement that is allowing Mexican truckers into our highways should be stopped, yesterday. Other so-called "free trade" agreements should be reviewed and amended to be "fair trade".

State: The Arizona Court of Appeals decision requiring employers to VERFIFY the legality of their workers is now the law of the land. I read every day that illegal Mexicans are moving out of Arizona and on to other states or even just going back to Mexico. You want solutions? Here it is. Since this decision was not overturned, it is having a huge decrease on the influx of illegal aliens into Arizona. We've all known...take the jobs away - they stay away.

Here's my suggestion: As we killed the McCain/Kennedy Shamensty Bill giving a pathway to citizenship for illegal aliens, we should now build a coalition to support any city, county, or state that wants to pass the same type of laws as Arizona. There is another state working towards similar employer penalties - Louisiana I believe. There are also a number of cities that have written into their laws that they would not be a "sactuary" city.

Hammer the employers who knowingly hire illegals and the demand will dry up. Oh no, we will be doomed because there won't be anyone to fill those low paying jobs. Bullshit. They were done before, they will be done again.

This movement is growing. If you care about the cohesiveness our our country, American jobs, American continuity, this type of local effort could be the answer. It's working in Arizona as I type this.

Exactly. Back in the 20's and 30's, FDR scared the heck out of business and the socialist styled dem's doing it again. Before we start taking our guns off the rack, perhaps we all should read Dr. Walter Williams article "It's time to part company". Put the title in google and you'll find it. This is what I believe is coming, not a civil war similar to the 1860's. That will not be needed. To the contrary of a previous poster, I believe the South will be the home of conservatism along with the mid-west. And it will be populated by all cultures who embrace conservative values. I read a fascinating article a couple of weeks ago in which it was pointed out that several small cities in the Southwest ended up eliminating their red-light cameras after they had so much trouble tracking down violators. Something like 40% of the violators were driving vehicles whose license plates could not be traced, which made the whole red-light camera program a losing proposition.

The issue of illegal aliens and the issue of foreign trade are basically the same, and the primary responsibility for these two lies not with our so-called "elite leaders" -- but with ALL OF US (the American consumers).

Massive illegal immigration and an enormous trade deficit are the natural result of what happens when you have an entire nation in which every person is delusional enough to believe that he/she can be on the right side of any bell curve (no matter what that bell curve measures -- i.e., income, education level, standard of living, etc.). By definition, 50% of the population will be "below average" by any measure . . . so it is only natural that over time we must fill in the left side of those bell curves with peasant laborers -- either here (Mexican immigrants) or overseas (Chinese slave labor).

If these same liberals were willing to pay a living wage to those who clean their toilets and mow their lawns there would be no question about who is willing to do the work.

As you know the argument (and it comes from conservative business folks as well), is that "I can't find Americans to work at the prevailing wage".

We have to be somewhat sympathetic to the small business person making that claim because it's true. The non-enforcement of immigraton and labor laws has provided a vast pool of illegal peasant labor willing to work for substandard ages, and that's where the small business must compete when bidding jobs. But it's not their "fault", they didn't cause the disruption in the labor market. The huge business associations (American Meat Institute, Council of Chain Restaurants, etc) and their lackeys on Capitol Hill and in the White House have encouraged and cultivated the problem.

Frankly I can't blame the small business person. They are competing against this huge pool pool of illegal peasant labor and would become uncompetitive if they paid proper wages to American workers (and followed the law).

Seriously, the only way to end the problem is to eliminate the pool of illegal peasant labor from the American workforce.

I have seen federal numbers for illegals held in jail ranging from 19.3% to 27% of the federal prison population.

Here's a sampling of USA cities wanted for murder. What you'll see is that in big USA cities like LA or NYC most of the murderers are Hispanic. Unknown are the % of illegals. In smaller cities the FBI will post the nationalities of the murderers. About 25% of the most wanted are illegals wanted for murder. This number agrees with the percentage of illegals incarcerated in federal prisons. +-25%

There are currently no exact numbers on the number of Americans killed by illegals. Part of the reason is that the government deliberately obscures the number. I talked on the phone with the head of statistics for the US Bureau of Prisons. He said his office wasn't allowed to publish the number of illegal alien murderers. Rather they were forced to put legal and non legal residents in the same category. I talked to ICE. They put out detailed numbers on illegal child molestors. However, they put out nothing on illegal murderers.

Part of the reason for the silence on the matter is that there is evidence to suggest that most Americans being killed by illegals are black--as is the suggestion in this LA Times Article. Also this article from the LA Times.

All that said the true number of criminal aliens is far higher than is revealed by criminal aliens in prisons. Disagree. You're blaming the victim.

The average consumer didn't recognize until very recently the extent of the illegal peasant labor invasion and really still doesn't (e.g., as whole towns in the midwest are being taken over by illegal peasant laborers working at local meatpacking plants).

The consumer didn't know until recently that DOG FOOD, of all things, is being manufactured in China. Or that the "bar peanuts" that are "packaged in Singapore" are actually a "product of China".

The consumer has no obligation or responsibility to vet every product and service they buy to make sure that it conforms with the existing law. That is why we have a government.

Sorry it IS the sole responsibility of the federal government to rigorously enforce existing labor and immigration law. It IS the responsibility of the government to make sure that imported foods meet a certain criteria for hygiene and content. It IS the responsibility to fine and jail those employers who hire illegal peasant laborers. We have laws in place to prevent that sort of thing.

Fine, so long as we start with the member lists of the American Meatpacking Institute, American Home Builders Association, and U.S. Chamber Of Commerce. Those member companies are the ones lobbying-for and hiring vast numbers of illegal peasant laborers (e.g., Tyson and Cargill hire in the tens of thousands each).

You seem to want to start with the comparatively miniscule (but highly visible) handful of landscapers and contractors. I want to go after the big fish, those hiring hundreds and even thousands of illegal peasant laborers at a single facility.

That's where the problem is centered.

... And the only reason thay accept 40-60% less is because they are ILLEGAL. Once they are given legal status, they'll demand an "equitable wage."

It takes a very daring and aggressive personality to risk crossing the border. It is a very dangerous and inhospitable environment.

It should surprise no one that these people are more prone to crime.
