If there's no FRed and no Hunter and we're left with the four headless RINOs, then what?
January 10, 2008 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 01/10/2008 3:40:52 PM PST by Jim Robinson

The question was posed to me last night, if the only two conservatives in the race were to drop out, leaving the hapless RINOs Giuliani, Romney, Huckabee and McCain to ward off the Evil Witch of the East then, Jim, what do we do?

Well, I think four issues that most of us conservatives will agree on that are at the top or near the top of our priority lists are National Defense, Border Security, Guns and Life should be considered. We can argue all day long on whether or not these guys are constitutionally minded, small government fiscal conservatives, and I don't believe any of them are, but we'll leave that for another day. Let's concentrate on National Defense, Border Security, Guns and Life.

Well, I can see right off that that rules out Rudy, the draft dodging, gun grabbing, sanctuary city abortionist. At least the other three claim to be pro-life, although Romney has been a pro-choice abortionist for all of his elected history until he decided to run for president. I think Romney's pro choice, big government nanny state (RomneyCare) record gives him two big black eyes and should knock him out of any further consideration. That leaves Huckabee and McCain.

Now, all four of these guys are terrible on border security even though they're all claiming now to be border hawks. McCain led the charge for amnesty and the rest fell in line like dutiful RINO troopers. Can't really make a distinction among these guys on the border issue. All fail, though I think most conservatives would rank McCain at or near the bottom.

Guns. Rudy's definitely out. McCain's out. Romney's not much better. Guess Huckabee the big duck hunter outshoots the others in this category.

Rudy fails in all categories, McCain and Romney fail on guns, and all fail on borders. So I guess Huckabee has more to offer over the others at this point as he is at least pro-life and pro-gun.

Now comes national defense. Sorry, but I can't see the draft dodging, gun grabbing, gay loving, cross-dressing, illegal alien pandering abortion activist Rudy Giuliani as a very appealing or effective guy to head up our military, even if he did make some rousing anti-terrorist speeches on 9/11. The "gays should be allowed to serve openly in the military" Romney (no military or national security experience that I know of) doesn't give me goosebumps either.

So, again, we're down to Huckabee and McCain. Now you all know that I like Huckabee as he is a likable fellow, and I hate McCain, but wait. If the whole shebang is going to be decided on which of the still standing Republican wannabes should defend America from the terrorists and the surrendering Democrats, I think I'll have to go with McCain over Huckabee. At least McCain served in the military and has a whole lot more military and national security experience while serving on various committees in the senate than does Huckabee. Huckabee has none. And I doubt Huckabee can defeat Hillary. But then, McCain probably won't either, so guess that leaves plan B. Squat down, tuck your head down between your knees and kiss your ass goodbye.

Here's praying that the only two all around consistently reliable conservatives hang in there and one of them gets the nod.

Go Hunter!! Go, FRed, GO!!

Sorry folks all wrong top to bottom. This is serious s*#t take it from me in lovely blue Cleveland Oiho. Hillary et. al. has plans for you and WILL come for you. When Dems domin8, your guns are useless. Witness the Buford shooting last year in Cleveland. Man defends himself (hisself, in CleveSpeak) against a couple of punks. One punk killed. Good, I say. Local scum drive the good guy outta town. Like I say, at that level it's no good.

So serious up and vote for the best conservative in the primary. But if you think Rudy or McCain = Sharpton = Jessie = Jimmah Car-Terror, you need a good whiff of our blue toilets.

Yes, but you first supported Julie Annie

Yes, and I told you a billion times why and you still keep bringing this stupid feces up. Paul wasn't in the race then. Rudy didn't make a big deal out of social issues (when I wasn't aware how liberal he was on them) and I thought he'd be a better at downsizing government.

and now you support the paleosurrendermonkey and so your particular judgment as to whom you might vote for has no relevance to conservatives.

No I support Paul because he's talking about limited government and abolishing the IRS and getting us out of the UN and he doesn't wear his religion on his sleeve. He at least supports border security and a strong national defense, which is good enough for me. Any terrorists state that attacks us will be DEAD.

You have twice disqualified yourself from the status of conservative. Maybe after a rest of about four years at Happy Acres Rest Home, you might become conservative enough to venture an opinion again.

Who made you Judge, Jury, and Executioner?

We do not need a Conservative Party any more than we need a libertarian party (other than to drag the moonbats away from the GOP).

Uh, I never advocated such bub, that was in response to another poster who brought it up.

Your intended refusal to vote GOP in November will not cripple whatever candidate is actually nominated (and we all know to an absolute certainty that paleoPaulie will NOT be that candidate, now don't we, since the only voters now are the real ones and the pipsqueak is being serially demolished as was his obvious fate.

Good! So you have nothing to worry about then, right? You don't need my measly vote anyway, or the votes of Paul supporters who have finally woken up and started talking about the Constitution again. If McCain, Huckster, or Giuliani is the nominee, I am staying home or writing in Paul's name.

People that think McCain will support them on social issues are dreaming. Read Sen. Rick Santorum’s interview with Hugh Hewitt’s today. Rick says McCain was always pushing the caucus to deep-six social issues because he didn’t want to vote on them. Sounds in character to me. Any time its a choice between a position favored by conservatives an a position favored by the MSM, McCain will go with the MSM. As president, he will do the same—social issue people should figure you are out.

I go with the only candidate I would trust to nominate judges to courts and the only one that can be considered socially conservative and a strong support of the 2nd amendment -- Mike Huckabee.

I have to agree with that. McCain not only trashes the 2nd with his democrat friends, but trashed the 1st with incumbent protection and censorship. Huckabee may roll over to Congress on a few things, but I doubt he will on these.

After seeing Jim’s chart yesterday I would probaby go Rudy then Romney, and then I don’t know. I think I dislike McCain more but I think the Huckster is the least qualified to POTUS.

It's a question of which party is the hare and which party is the tortoise.

That's what it's come down too.

I haven’t been paying attention long enough to get that far.

I have no idea-it just seemed sort of like common sense to me.

Mike...constitution be damned,

You must be thinking of McCain. Who voted to suppress political speech 30 days in front of the election (MSM excepted). Who routinely schemes with Dems for new gun control? At least Huck doesn't spit on the Bill of Rights.
