Fred Thompson today blasted the media for propagating a false rumor about his impending withdrawal, while bolstering the role he has created for himself as the candidate in this race who does not suffer unwelcome questions gladly.
Back in Iowa, Thompson famously refused to respond to the debate moderator/school marm's demand for a hand-show on global warming. Then this morning on Today, he declined to engage in horse-race speculation about his own prospects, then took the media to task for its propagation of that false rumor about his impending withdrawal. Weekend anchor Lester Holt interviewed the former Tennessee senator.

My wife and I will vote for Fred.
I want Fred to hang in there and fight for there are many like me and my wife in the GOP who will vote for you.
I would say from this article that FRed is playing against the other team AND the refs.
If you chose to take your ball and go home go ahead - feel free.
I am still in the game and so is FRed.
Will you tell the entire forum in blinking red size 20 text that you’re a complete moron who was 100% wrong when I do?
I couldn’t have said it better myself.
“Will you tell the entire forum in blinking red size 20 text that youre a complete moron who was 100% wrong when I do?”
Sure, but only if I agree that I was wrong.
I’m a pretty magnanimous guy. Go for it.
“Good for Fred! The ONLY reason they interviewed him was to fuel the flames that he will be dropping out next. “
The latest poll shows him at 4% for New Hampshire - with Ron Paul polling at 11%.
THe Thompson campaign is very cash-poor - they had to beg for days a couple weeks ago to raise $250k for a tv ad.
I like the guy but the support just isn’t there for him to win this.
He hasn’t shown the ability to put together a national campaign.
Too bad, I liked him best among the mainstream guys running. The only other 2 I can stand are Hunter and Paul.
Well then, I see no upside in me pointing them out then. :)
Anyways, they’re there...not quite as overt as calling someone a name outright, but they’re there nonetheless. And those quotes are not the only ones that there are. I spent about 4 minutes grabbing those out of a long, rather ugly history of this poster denigrating Fred Thompson and his supporters.
The poster has moderated his/her/its rhetoric recently, but some of us don’t forget. Particularly when the user comes to a Fred Thompson thread pretending that he/she/it COULD support Fred, if only for blah blah blah...
The Thompson campaign isn’t ‘very cash-poor’.
They didn’t beg. They held a fundraiser. Fred still has a good deal of cash on hand.
Oh, never mind...back to laundry. Continue on with your misinformation.
Did you have the Goldwater doll?...I did. *g*
“Well then, I see no upside in me pointing them out then. :)”
As I expected. Another dodge!
So now you’re a dodgy attention hound with an ego that outsizes your ability to support your words.
Named after Karl Rove. How surprising. (ho hum)
“The poster has moderated his/her/its rhetoric recently, but some of us dont forget. Particularly when the user comes to a Fred Thompson thread pretending that he/she/it COULD support Fred, if only for blah blah blah...”
I won’t forget you. That’s for sure.
Who told you that?
This may be a foreign concept to you, but FRed is frugal and BUDGETS.
He held 5-6 million in reserve for South Carolina. He didn’t want to blow the bank on a long shot in Iowa.
Grow up.
If you can't take a few barbs, then don't post.
The Ron Paul supporters have been vilified and insulted on a personal level for months.
“The Thompson campaign is very cash-poor...”

Uhhhh... That would be Thompson himself.

“If we can raise the money sufficient to hold our own on television, we will win South Carolina and we will be in good shape,” Thompson told Wolf Blitzer.
He doesn’t have the money to hold his own in SC. He still has to raise it. He hasn’t been a successful fundraiser.
“They didnt beg. They held a fundraiser. Fred still has a good deal of cash on hand.”
Not enough for SC. He said so himself.
It took him days to raise $250k for a tv ad in the recent primary.
Stick a fork in him.
Grow up.
If you can’t take a few barbs, then don’t post.
Rudy didn't either.
He raised nearly 2 million in the last three weeks.
That came from his campaign.
Once again, he likes to pay as he goes and hold reserves.
His current fundraiser is pulling in $100K a day.
>You mean like he did in post 68 over an hour ago?<
No, those are quotes not url links.
I could put quotation marks on the ends of any sentence and say you said it. That’s not fair to you, is it?
The url link is considered proof.
