“His current fundraiser is pulling in $100K a day.”

According to his website, he raised $250k in the last 6 days.

Less than half of your claim.

“If we can raise the money sufficient to hold our own on television, we will win South Carolina and we will be in good shape,” Thompson told Wolf Blitzer.

He doesn’t have the money to hold his own in SC. He still has to raise it. He hasn’t been a successful fundraiser.

Freds no 3 and has $7 mil on hand at the end of 3rd QTR, Rudy's no 1 at $17 mil, and Mitts number 2 at 9 mil.

So how do you get "he hasn't been a successful fundraiser" from those numbers?

He was second in fundraising in the third quarter behind Mitt.

You left Paul out of those numbers, so Thompson isn’t #3 in fundraising.

Mitt has all the money he needs and doesn’t need to raise a cent.

Where is the 7 million number from anyway? Source?

Other posters said he was raising 100k a day, but he raised $225k in the last 7. Do the math.

Fred himself said he needed to raise more money for SC. He isn’t even sure he can do it.

“If we can raise the money sufficient to hold our own on television, we will win South Carolina and we will be in good shape,” Thompson told Wolf Blitzer.

IF WE CAN RAISE THE MONEY.... WE WILL BE IN GOOD SHAPE.

I like Fred better than the other CFR-approved candidates, but it’s a comment on the sad state of the GOP that he’s losing to a huckster, a flip-flopper, a Rockerfeller RINO, and McQueeg. Paul even has 2x his numbers in New Hampshire. Fred is on the record hoping for a distant third!

I’ve been hoping for a long, long time that someone would make the media a part of their campaign. It needs to happen at some point, it would be nice if fred would take up the charge after this.

That fundraiser started at 4PM on Friday. He had $200K by yesterday at 4.

Fred himself said the money has been coming in faster since Iowa and even faster since Saturday’s debate.

Fred more than doubled Ron Paul's numbers.

source is opensecrets.org http://www.opensecrets.org/presidential/

Thompson needs to have continuing funding for the primaries past SC and beyond.

His cash on hand as of the end of the 3rd quarter puts him in third place behind Rudy and Romney. We don't know what his funding level is at the end of the 4th Qtr. It should be on opensecrets.org shortly.

That's why I asked you who told you he was low on funds. I thought you had some inside info.

So the fact he said he "needed to raise more funds to be competitive in SC" doesn't necessarily mean he's running low. You inferred that.

It could be that he want's to maintain sufficient cash on hand to carry him beyond SC. A money management thing. Or you could infer as you did that he's running on fumes.

We will know shortly.

He said, IF he can raise enough money, THEN he will be competitive.

That sets up a conditional dependency.

HE made the inference that he doesn’t have enough money - he has to raise it.

The 4th qtr cash on hand will be out shortly then we'll see.

Freepers are sending him funds on a regular basis. I just sent $250 yesterday. My 3rd such contribution in that amount and I will send him more if he needs it.

If you are a true and consistent conservative you should do the same.

And Mitt owe Fred an apology for starting the rumor. There was a thread yesterday about it.

The latest poll shows him at 4% for New Hampshire - with Ron Paul polling at 11%.

And over 70 percent of Paul's NH support is coming from people who identify themselves as liberal (over 50%) or moderate (just under 20%).

I just had a woman admit to me this morning that if Paul hadn't run, she would be voting for Obama or Edwards, in that order.

Tell me how one makes THAT leap if Paul is in fact conservative?

The vote of the stupid count as much as the vote of everyone else.

“And over 70 percent of Paul’s NH support is coming from people who identify themselves as liberal (over 50%) or moderate (just under 20%).”

Just think - Paul would seriously damage the Dems in the general election.

He also would hurt them more as a 3rd party run than the GOP according to your stats.

Can you cite a source btw?

It was in the internals of the poll St. Anselm’s conducted a few months ago. My guess is (judging by the former liberals who have switched to Paul) that the numbers in question might be even more skewed now.

“...poll questions are phrased and by the face time the give...”

My point was even with the press blackout, a candidate can BUY ALL THE AIRTIME HE WANTS....

This is all very elementary and I don’t know why I’m bothering to discuss it.

It's an interesting question. My answer would be that Paul is libertarian, and many libertarian ideas have appeal to all Americans. I'm not talking about Libertarian Party ideas, I'm talking about the basic libertarian ideas that you have a right to make a living, keep what you earn, and generally be left alone if you don't harm anyone else.

I'm a Paul supporter, and my second choice is Fred. If neither is nominated, I'll likely vote third party or write in Paul, or possibly Ralph Wiggum.

Unfortunately, it now appears that the Goldwater-Reagan era was just a bubble of protest sighing out of the hardening mass of the leviathan state...
