A pit bull stopped five people from robbing a home and may have saved his owners life.
Christopher Payne told Bibb County sheriff's deputies when a group of people tried to rob him his dog Dino attacked and scared off intruders.
But Christopher said his 120 pound pit bull Dino is a friendly playful dog.
However Tuesday night Dino jumped into action when two men trying to rob him knocked on the door.
"I answered the door," Payne said. "When I answered the door a guy put a

Did the police check his apartment for drugs? I mean, that’s why the thugs were there, right? That’s why he’s has a 120-lb pitbull, right?
(snerk) One of my all time favorite flicks. But wasn’t it the Buehler’s Rottie that gnawed on Rooney’s arse?
It’s all in how they’re ‘raised’-they can be some of the most loving, good-natured and devoted dogs around. I know because a friend of mine has two like that.
Those who have ruined some other-wise good dogs are no better than criminals who belong in a cell next to Michael Vick, JMHO.
I had a pit “dumped” on me by my son who rescued her from an idiot acquaintance. I couldn’t send her to the pound. She was 10 months old and malnourished. She’s “only” 62 lb. now, at age 7.
She saved my home from burglary while I was at work. The burglar got an eye full of her through the window of the door he was ramming. He changed his mind. Good decision. She’d have shredded him. No strangers allowed in her space.
Guns and dogs, mans best friends. That’s why I keep a few of each.
There was a case in Long Beach, California in the 1990s where a burglar was killed by a Standard Poodle. The people came home to a broken window, and a deceased burglar in the living room, in a pool of blood, and an affectionate greeting by their dog.
The family of the burglar sued for wrongful death, and lost. The case was dismissed.
The burglar was knocked to the ground by the dog, was bit in the neck, puncturing jugglar vein when he tried to fight off the dog, and bled to death...
A good pitbull? Wherer did the owner go wrong?
Never trust a pit bull, rottie or chow.
It was probably for the best. Can you imagine if he'd survived the story he'd have to tell in prison?
Believe me, in prison the “poodle” would have been changed to “Retired Police Shepard” in the first telling...
I live in LB and love that story.
There was recently a Pit Bull mauling in LB. Two Pits killed a retired racing greyhound named Henry.
I also have a retired racing greyhound named Henry who is known around town. Many people thought that it was my Henry who was killed, but it was another.
Pits are not the problem - their “ghetto” owners are.
“Good doggie” ping
I love a good dog story with a happy ending.
“Good Boy Dino!” Years ago, I saved a Brindle from certain demise as a result of abuse and neglect. She recovered and chose to live under my bed most of the time until someone tried to cross my threshold.
Poodles were originally bred to hunt and kill wolves.
Dino is a good boy .
Good doggie! He looks like a Pit Bull my brother used to have. Shelby was one of the sweetest dogs I ever saw, and so were her puppies, one of which my just older brother had. Unfortunately, that doggie, Buster Brown, was stolen out of my brother's yard. When he made his way back almost a year later, it looked as though he'd been starved and beaten. We think he'd been taken to use in dog fighting, but wouldn't fight, because that's now how he was trained. Apparently those who had taken him tried to beat him to make him mean, but it didn't work. Sadly, he was stolen again, 6 months later, and they never saw him again.
I have a great picture of our #2 son, when he was about 3, wrapped in his blankey, lying on Buster's side. They'd been running around playing for about an hour, and both just collapsed from fatigue.
