There was a case in Long Beach, California in the 1990s where a burglar was killed by a Standard Poodle. The people came home to a broken window, and a deceased burglar in the living room, in a pool of blood, and an affectionate greeting by their dog.
The family of the burglar sued for wrongful death, and lost. The case was dismissed.
The burglar was knocked to the ground by the dog, was bit in the neck, puncturing jugglar vein when he tried to fight off the dog, and bled to death...
It was probably for the best. Can you imagine if he'd survived the story he'd have to tell in prison?
I live in LB and love that story.
There was recently a Pit Bull mauling in LB. Two Pits killed a retired racing greyhound named Henry.
I also have a retired racing greyhound named Henry who is known around town. Many people thought that it was my Henry who was killed, but it was another.
Pits are not the problem - their “ghetto” owners are.
I love a good dog story with a happy ending.
Poodles were originally bred to hunt and kill wolves.
