WASHINGTON - Former FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover had a plan to suspend the rules against illegal detention and arrest up to 12,000 Americans he suspected of being disloyal, according to a newly declassified document.
Hoover sent his plan to the White House on July 7, 1950, less than two weeks after the Korean War began. But there is no evidence to suggest that President Truman or any subsequent president approved any part of Hoover's proposal to house suspect Americans in military and federal prisons.
Hoover had wanted Truman to declare the mass arrests necessary to "protect the country against treason, espionage and sabotage," The New York Times reported Saturday in a story posted on its Web site.
The plan called for the FBI to apprehend all potentially dangerous individuals whose names were on a list Hoover had been compiling for years.
"The index now contains approximately twelve thousand individuals, of which approximately ninety-seven percent are citizens of the United States," Hoover wrote in the now-declassified document. "In order to make effective these apprehensions, the proclamation suspends the writ of habeas corpus."
Habeas corpus is the right to seek relief from illegal detention, and is a bedrock legal principle.
All apprehended individuals eventually would have had the right to a hearing under Hoover's plan, but hearing boards comprised of one judge and two citizens would not have been bound by the rules of evidence.
The details of Hoover's plan was among a collection of Cold War-era documents related to intelligence issues from 1950-1955. The State Department declassified the documents on Friday.

Hoover would have a hay day today with all the demoratic traitors that we have. Hoover would probably hang Scary Reid (D-Al Qeada) and Nancy Peloser (D-Taliban) from the highest tree in the Country.
Wilson and Lincoln both rounded up tens of thousands. I think Jefferson was thinking about it too.

But the idea that America’s legendary lawman was a Broderick Crawford who wanted to be Cindy Crawford has been thoroughly discredited. It was first raised in a salacious 1993 biography, “The Secret Life of J. Edgar Hoover,” by Anthony Summers. Summers is a former BBC reporter who has built a career rehashing conspiracy theories involving Marilyn Monroe, President Kennedy, Hoover and other icons of the period.
Summers’ only source for the transvestite material was Susan Rosenstiel, ex-wife of industrialist Lewis Rosenstiel, who was one of Hoover’s small circle of friends. Susan Rosenstiel had served time for perjury and had been sued 38 times for various reasons by leading Manhattan stores, including Saks, Tiffany and Gucci. (snip)

Nevertheless, the Hoover Drag Queen Myth has become cant through repetition in certain intellectual circles where Hoover, and other law enforcement types, are reviled along with the military.
The myth sailed through the copy desk of the New York Times several weeks ago when it was rehashed in an art review by Michael Kimmelman. The newspaper retracted it five days later, but it will pop up again.

That said, bowing down before evil and agreeing to use the word “gay” as a euphemism to describe those afflicted with same-sex attraction disorder is extremely unwise.
One reason it is unwise is that those afflicted with same-sex attraction disorder are indeed dangerous: seduction, molestation, and rape of the young, jealous violence, and decompensation into more severe forms of insanity are only a few of the risks.

If the beast wins, Hoover’s plan will look like child’s play compared to what she will do.
I never thought much of Hoover until I read his book book “Masters of Deceipt.”

That’s a great question. Perhaps as effective, Hoover could have lobbied to just have the entire State department put behind bars... as well as the majority members of the Tydings sub-committee.
Expect Hollywood to come out with a movie on this shortly.

I would bet that Hillary’s main mentor “Saul Alinsky” was on that list.
