The FR Canteen is Free Republic's longest running daily thread
specifically designed to provide entertainment and moral support for the military.
The doors have been open since Oct 7 2001,
the day of the start of the war in Afghanistan.
We are indebted to you for your sacrifices for our Freedom.
Some links are broken. These are being worked on.
Ours is the tree topper Star & Angel that Mrs. SR and I bought for our first Christmas as man & wife and still use.
I got my first Christmas card (of this year) today. I’m going to make it into an ornament. It’s going to be my favorite.

Good evening Lauren.{{{HUGS}}}
My favorite Christmas ornament is the Angel my son made for me in school.
Now I am off to eat dinner and spend time with my sweet daughter.
Have a great evening.
Mine would HAVE to be...
All the torn up wrapping paper AFTER the little ones get done ripping into their presents!
Just checking in as I do every day, mostly without posting, but always thankful for the canteeners and the troops.
Christmas is my favorite time of the year. Our tree (a real one of course) is up, the wreath is on the door, all the Riders are present or accounted for, the barn cats have free access to the fireplace hearth, the dogs and horses are warm and comfortable and our Christmas dinner is planned-ham, grits, sweet potato, green beans and apple pie. We will go to church on Christmas eve, sing (badly), pray hard and party hearty afterwards. We thank God for our country, our friends and family and all the blessings we have been given.
I hope your Christmas is good. May the peace of God be with you.
Regards,
AR
Well well BBC wire claim that perhaps Fidal Castro may step down as Cuba main leader
Evening Lauren. Hugs.

READ: Psalm 139:1-12
O Lord, You have searched me and known me. Psalm 139:1
Mary received a ceramic frog for her birthday from a co-worker, and she displayed it on her desk for all to see. Some of her fellow employees began to think she must like frogs, so they started to give her frog items for Christmas, birthdays, and special celebrations. Her office soon became filled with things frogpens, candles, stickie notes, posters, coffee cups.
After Mary left the company, a friend asked her what she did with the frogs. She replied, Well, I dont really like frogs, so I gave them all away.
Others mean well, yet dont always know us well. Theyll never know us as God does. We are an open book to Himthere is nothing about us that is hidden from Him. Psalm 139 tells us:
God knows everything we do (v.2). He knows all the activities of our day and every detail of our schedule.
God knows everything we think (v.2)the good and the bad, the wholesome, and the impure.
God knows everywhere we goYou comprehend my path . . . and are acquainted with all my ways (v.3).
God knows everything we say (v.4).
He knows us better than we know ourselves. Isnt it a comfort to be known so intimately by our Lordeven with all our flawsand yet be loved so completely!

Although elderly she was in good health at the time she wrote it. She died three years later. Of course I always think of her every time I put that ornament on the tree and it always brings a tear to my eye.
