Rep. Wexler (D-FL) would like to use the threat of impeachment to force the President to endorse the Democratic agenda.
I would be absolutely stunned if the White House capitulated.

Is this just a bunch of phony grandstanding for the benefit of the Democrat base, or is Wexler actually insane?

'A Congress willing to stand up to the abuses of the Bush Administration through impeachment hearings will demonstrate a strength of will that will more likely convince Bush to accommodate on issues such as Iraq, health care, and energy and environmental issues.' Not likely...especially with the currently Democratic led Congress' ratings in the teens.
Wexler is nuts.

However, this attempted coup d'etat by Republicans against President Clinton was not and should not be the standard of impeachment that was enshrined by the Founders in our Constitution. Somehow I doubt, Congressman, I doubt the Founders would agree with you that perjury, witness tampering/suborning perjury, and other forms of obstruction of justice were not impeachable. But then again, you started out by lying by saying it was an investigation into the President's "personal relations" rather than those things.

Wexler is a punk. "Nice little government you have here - be a pity if anything happened to it." Bring it.

Hasn’t Clinton already been impeached?

I join them in their call for impeaching President Bush. That would set the rat party back about 10 years. Our return to power would then be a matter of waiting for the Election results to see how many seats we cleared it by.

Uh, WHY?
The only ground for impeaching Bush - and they are valid ones - is his failure to uphold the oath he swore to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States, and, by extension, Federal Laws, INCLUDING immigration laws along with protecting our borders, specifically the Mexican one.
But I’m sure Messers Wexler et al. concur with Bush on that policy.

He wants 50,000 signatures. I see that they already have 60,816. There should be no excuse for them to not try to pull this stunt. Yeah, let’s see them do it and alienate the independent vote. Go for it, you jerks!

I recall that Red Nancy became Speaker, meets with GWB, and 24 hours later, Rumsfeld magically “resigned”. I am convinced she threatened GWB with the impeachment card, and in that instance, he caved.

Could we arrange for Mr. Wexler to receive a copy of the book “Sell Out” by David P. Schippers (Chief investigative counsel for the house judiciary committee during the Clinton impeachment). Mr. Wexler seems to have forgotten the charges that were brought by the committee he was a member of.
Dementia is a mental illness, in it’s worst variant it is commonly associated with the disease known as Alzheimer's, perhaps Mr. Wexler should be tested.

Absolutely absurd. Clinton’s dalliances led him to the actions that were impeachable...lying under oath, suborning perjury, etc. We could care less who was polishing the presidential jewels. Our concern was that he lied about it, while under oath. Of course, many of us had already made up our minds about his integrity well before that point.
President Bush has not been shown to have done the same thing. The argument that he ‘lied’ about the intelligence information that got us to the WOT is major league Dem/Lib BS, regurgitated by the MSM on command from the liberal money brokers.
Even Clinton was spouting the same stuff the last few years of his presidency. Shucks, he even bombed a baby formula factory because he was so sure of this stuff.
It’s time for this crappy Congress to get its stuff together. Pass the legislation they think is needed and push it to Bush for signature or veto.
I don’t believe the electorate is interested in them holding endless, mindless hearings over issues long passed, and notions fully open to interpretation. We are smart enough to make up our own minds on a lot of these issues. We don’t need a bunch of elitist politicians telling us what to believe.
