Smithfield A judge has told a Johnston County farmer that he cannot open his farm to Muslim families planning to slaughter lambs as part of an annual religious celebration.
The judge issued a 10-day injunction Friday, meaning that about 250 Muslim families in Wake County will have to make other arrangements for slaughtering lambs they bought in advance of the three-day Festival of the Sacrifice, which begins on Wednesday.
Kenneth and Eddie Rowe have tangled before with the state over the mass slaughter of lambs on their 300-acre farm. They said they have been conducting the slaughtering in their 80x100 barn for the past six years.
In 2005, the Rowes preserved their right to carry on the tradition. The state Department of Agriculture fined them $10,000 for the practice the same year, but the Rowes have not yet paid it.

I guess the annual Festival of the Disemboweling of the Infidels is out this year.
Just waiting for the ACLU to come to the rescue of the only religion they embrace.
At the risk of siding with the Moslems, why aren’t they allowed to slaughter lambs?
I am waiting for those wimpering cowards over at PETA to speak up against the barbarians. And I hear?...
(sounds of crickets chirping)
Does six years really constitute a Tradition?
Forget the lambs- suggest they slaughter each other. REAL sacrifice- and less Muslims in the world.
I am not a fan of Islam (as a matter of fact, I despise that faith), but this is ridiculous. Let them enjoy their mutton!
Because this is America, where you can’t do anything you want to your private property.
What state is this in. In case I’m traveling there I want to be able to stear clear of crowds and human bombs.
If it’s their private property, they can do what they want with it. Why don’t we spend our time fighting the Muslims who behead, stone, gas, blow up, and impale PEOPLE over in the Middle East instead?
I’m not siding with Muslims as Muslims, but what’s wrong with slaughtering lambs/pigs/goats, whatever?
I think they do what Orthodox Jews do, which is slit the animal’s throat and let it bleed out (which I believe happens fairly quickly).
I’ve seen this in Spain, where they slaughter hogs this way, btw.
I think that noted imam Denis Leary said it best:
“Meat is murder...”
My cousins in Texas are now raising goats, which they sell to muslims in Detroit.
Not sure if the goats are for ceremonial, culinary, or erotic use.
The beast that is Islam has already taken over the middle east, and is doing the terrible things you mention.
This incident is one of the many ‘toes in the door’; that same beast rooting itself here.
Would you rather fight it while it is small, or wait till the suicide bombs and beheadings are here? We’re dealing with a mindset that sees little difference between slaughtering lambs and killing their own daughters! Death is at it’s core.
Islam is death. Fight it wherever, and however you find it.
They're not mutually exclusive uses.
Well, do they get more money for the pretty ones? :=)
Has the judge issued an injunction against all slaughter houses in the area?
This has nothing to do with Muslim or any other religion. This has to do with a judge that is a moron.
“State agriculture officials said the Rowes must build a custom slaughter facility. The two men say that would cost $740,000. State officials said mass slaughters conducted any other way are unsanitary and threaten an outbreak of disease.
The lamb slaughter commemorates the day when Muslims believe God allowed the patriarch Abraham to sacrifice a ram, instead of his son. Muslims believe the son to be sacrificed was Ishmael, rather than Isaac as recorded in the Christian Old Testament.”

There are the reasons. And, no, I didn’t notice any input by the PETA crowd. Guess there are still a few people left that they are respectful/afraid of.
I think that just to be even handed, the judge should ban the sale of meat in the entire county.
