My parents (age 89 and 84) are in a retirement home in Owasso.

Baptist Village.

They are also without power. The staff moved all the residents to the nursing home where there are backup generators.

We have heard from then (Thank God for cell phones) but I’m still worried.

Prayers, please?

Who says prayer doesn’t work — all those Iowans praying for relief from the presidential wannabes.

LOL

Huckabee, Romeny and Edwards are all stranded — outside of Iowa. They were on their way to Iowa to campaign, but they all got diverted.

Huckabee is in Nebraska.

Beautiful pictures of a situation that’s not so beautiful!

I’m in Southwest MO here (Cedar County). We didn’t get slammed as bad as ya’ll, but it was pretty bad. We’re getting rain right now, so it’s beginning to wash the ice away. I’ve been ice-bound with my 3 youngest boys since Sunday. I’m praying for the schools to open again tomorrow to give me some relief from playing wrestling referee! :)

No power outage at our place, but across the highway 3 power poles snapped and that side of US 54 highway is without power (or was last night). Last evening, Sac-Osage Electric Cooperative (our electricity provider) had about 4500 people without power across 9 counties here in MO.

I stocked up on groceries (lots of milk and bread and stuff for making cookies!) on Saturday evening, so we’ve just been sitting tight.

My husband is working up in Omaha, Nebraska, so he just stayed up there this past weekend and did’nt try to come home. It looked like they were going to get slammed pretty bad last night, but I haven’t watched the Weather Channel today to find out.

My oldest son is staying in town so he can get back and forth to work (we live out in the country on some pretty bad roads) down at the county seat in Stockton.

Hopefully, tomorrow will be the end of this mess!

Prayers up for all in Oklahoma and the other ice-blanketed areas, from here in 80° Houston.

We’re expecting the cold front to come back through tomorrow sometime - it has been flirting with us and teasing us. But we’re only talking 60+° highs.

Ice storms are the *worst*! Had a bad one down here a decade ago in Feb and I had large trees, so terrible “bomb” problem going outside, with very dangerous falling limbs and huge icicles - ice “spears,” actually.

It was beautiful, but deadly. Sheesh, we haven’t even had a freeze since then, I don’t think, lol. Oh, one snow.

Down here, people (not I) spray their trees with the sprinkler on the nights it *might* freeze, just to see the pretty glazing! It disappears quickly, so no harm, no foul.

Sorry to hear so many deaths from this one - 23 last I heard the news. Normally, I’d say “wish I were there, back in OK” but not this time. Been there, done that.

Prayers continue. Everyone, stay safe!

Our power was out from 8am Sunday till 9am tuesday (today)

Lots of tree damage in and around Jeff City. Still a lot of people out of power. We are on Callaway Electric Co-op.

The people in OK have it really bad compared to our situation. Sure glad I had the generator. Saved the freezer full of 07 venison and a half beef. Bonus got to watch a little satellite tv last night.
Hey the generator was already running so I didn’t waste any power ;)
