Here are a few photos from around my place.
This is the top of a chain link fence gate. It shows how much ice has accumulated on the trees around here. |
This is a fence post on my property. I thought it was an interesting photo. |
An early morning shot of my east pasture. Kinda creepy, but beautiful. |
My wife took this photo and I thought it was pretty cool looking. |
Ice has pretty much coated everything here. |
Here's another shot of the barbed wire. I like this one, especially because of the mist coming off the ice. |
This tree has weathered the weather very well and makes a nice photo. |
This one...not so much. You can see the damage to the tree scattered around its base. |
Wow ... it’s 66 degrees here in Dallas or something like that.
Here in North Central Illinois, schools are also closed. It was slushy this a.m. when the wife left for work 24 miles away. But it’s supposed to get worse as the day goes on. She packed for overnight in case she has to stay at an old neighbor’s house near work. On top of 6” of snow, it could become real interesting real fast.
What’s also interesting is that most stores are out of salt, even rock salt for softeners. I picked some up on Saturday, fortunately, but even then the skid was almost empty. People have been using it to counter the repeated storms we’ve had even before this one.
Global warming? Yeah, sure!
Can anyone post a picture of Algore with an icicle hanging off his nose?
ROFL!
Warm FRegards,
We here in Kentucky can sure relate to what you in the ice-ravaged areas are going thru. We had a devastating icestorm about 4 years ago, miles and miles of trees down, wires, etc. Folks were in their homes trying to keep warm with what they could find, others went to hotels and family out of town, it was a horrible mess. Our prayers are with those without power. It will take awhile but things will go back to normal.
FoxNews was reporting this morning that Oklahoma had 600,000 homes without electricity.
That would mean most of Oklahoma.
Overnight, temps rose some, so the streets/roadways began to clear.
Northern Missouri is reporting up to 1” of ice.
I’m gonna show some of these to my friend, maybe give him a little inspiration for photos.

74 and sunny right now here in St Petersburg with a high of 85 predicted. :)
Oklahoma... the city?
They will soon. The scientists who study the sun have issued an "All Quiet Alert", and solar cycle 25 is late starting. If this continues, we could have some very cold weather ahead of us.
Don't tell the bozos down in Bali, but humans don't control the climate on earth. The sun does. Duh.
Better yet, how about one stuck somewhere else :)
Nice. I miss ice storms; instead of your house shaken apart or blown away, just stay home and enjoy the scenery. Recall one storm a few years ago: middle of the night, totally quiet ... except for the constant sound of branches cracking in the woods. And another: the valley flooded, froze, then receeded ... horizontal sheets of ice hanging off trees at the same 3 foot height (rather surreal).
Don’t get that here in GA (mid-70s today).
Thanks for the pics!

I’ve been checking the KCP&L website every 15 minutes. It shows where and how many outages there are. You can click on your city and get a great map. http://www.kcpl.com/kcmaps/frameset_menus.htm
We're expecting more freezing rain tonight.
