Paper: Pages Had Oral Sex In Front of Colleagues
The Blotter / ABC News ^ | December 10, 2007 | Justin Rood

Teenaged congressional pages performed oral sex in front of their colleagues for weeks before they were caught and expelled from the program, according to a new report in Roll Call newspaper.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., has pledged to reform the page program, which brings dozens of 15- and 16-year-old students to live and study in Washington, D.C., while working as aides in congressional offices.

"As a mother and a grandmother, nothing is more important to me than the safety and security of our House pages," Pelosi said in a statement.

The page program has been reportedly reformed at least once already in the past year, after former Rep. Mark Foley, R-Fla., was exposed for sending inappropriate and suggestive e-mails and instant messages to teenaged former pages.

Two Republican lawmakers resigned their seats on the page program's oversight board last week to protest what they said was a failure to inform them of misbehavior in the program which was leading to expulsions.

In addition to the two pages reportedly expelled for their oral sex performances, two other pages were reportedly expelled for shoplifting from stores at Washington, D.C.-area shopping malls. One was reportedly charged with a felony.

Barney Frank's new book is a failure: the pages are stuck together.

Why don’t Congressmen use book marks?

Because they would rather have their pages bent over.

;)

Old joke, I know.

“Two other pages were reportedly expelled for shoplifting from stores at Washington, D.C.-area shopping malls. One was reportedly charged with a felony.”

“Sounds like some valuable skills they’ve picked up should they decide to run for office someday.”

It might be part of an practical exam for entry level opportunities as future White House national security adviser.

It’s only a scandal if the thief gets caught. To avoid such scandals, hire better thieves.

Rhetorical question:

Why was the issue of sex and pages such a big, big issue for the media back in September of 2006 when the scandal of sending innapropriate instant messages to pages by a congressman who was Republican that they had to have it as THE top story on all the newscasts for a week, but this story is only appearing here and there now?

Will this new story be on Brian Williams’, Katie Coric’s, Wolf Blitzer’s, and Charlie Gibson’s lineup tonight?

Will anyone in the media insist that the Speaker of the House has ultimate responsibility? Will they ask for the Speaker’s resignation? Will they gleefully talk of how this may effect the upcoming national elections?

After all, they insist they are NOT biased.

I’ll just wait right here.....

As a parent, you would have to be OUT OF YOUR MIND to send your 15 or 16 year old to live in Washington with the politicians.

Their employer is the U.S. House - I don’t think they work for specific members. You can correct me if I’m mistaken.

Here is a cite of a Congressional Research Service report describing the page program. 72 pages in the House (2/3 of which are allocated to the majority party for appointment, 1/3 to the minority party) and 30 in the Senate (18 majority/12 minority). The report is dated October, 2006 so aside from the flip of party control probably should be accurate. Any odds on whether some of the perpetrators, participants or spectators were appointed by Republicans?

Hmm...even more than the safety of her children and grandchildren?

GuarAnTee Katie only cares if Republicans type dirty words ~ otherwise she likes everything Dems do, particularly if she thinks she can get in on it.

She's not going to "queer the game" by naming names on this one.

They’re skills that are good for a lot of high-level government positions. The thievery, the illicit sex, the felony charges. That’s the leadership we’ve been getting. I can’t blame these youths for merely following the leaders. (/sarc)
